Default An error occurred while reading the config/HoldemManager.config file

Techno-spaz here, so go easy on me .

Tried starting HM today and got the following error message:

'An error occurred while reading the config/HoldemManager.config file: Root element is missing.
Holdem Manager will now backup the old config file and create a new one for you.'

I clicked OK, but got a Microsoft.NET Framework error saying:

'Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately'

So I clicked quit, and tried googling the message in the subject title. Got a few links to these forums from people with same problem.
Following one of these posts, I tried deleting the HoldemManager.config file from C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config and then restarting HM.

Now I get the message :

'Could not find the config\HoldemManager.config file. Make sure you are running HM from the correct directory'

I click on OK and the 'Connect to PostgresSQL' box pops up.

The fields 'Server Name', Port Number', 'Login Name' and 'Password' are all filled in, but I don't know if they are filled in correctly. Should I go ahead and press 'Connect'?. I'm scared of taking any further steps in case I break it any further.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hi,

Hit connect and see if that works. If you have any other problems please post screenshots and we will help you through it.

OK, so I clicked 'Connect' on the Connect to PostgresSQL screen, and after being prompted to renew my license, HM started up successfully.

I do have one question though before I'm happy to go ahead and use it.

In the 'Configure Auto Import' pop-up, there seem to be some extra file paths that were not there before.

    The file paths are:

    C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Roaming\HEM Data\Hands + subfolders - NEW
    C:\Users\Sam\AppData\Roaming\HEM Data + subfolders - NEW
    C:\Program Files\pokerstars\HandHistory + subfolders
    C:\Program Files\PokerStars\HandHistory + subfolders
    C:\Users\Sam\Appdata\Local\Pokerstars\HandHistory + subfolders - NEW
    C:\Programs\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\HandHistory + subfolders

I don't know why there are two ..\Program Files\PokerStars\... file paths, there was just one before - the new one is the one where the 'P' and 'S' are not capitalized (I think).
I just wanted to check that I can go ahead and delete these new file paths, or if not, why they have been added.

    Many thanks.

Leave this folders as they are, they are needed for prefetch, rush and other things.
The only one you can delete is one of the pokerstars folders.

Ok seems to be working now, with one difference.

Before this problem my HUD would appear on any table I opened, before I even sat. Now it is just opening on a table after I sit and play at least 1 hand.

    Any ideas?

    What room you play in?
Go to Site options and select room. Then set Prefetch ON.

    This is for PokerStars.

Prefetch was already selected, still not working.

I unselected, then reslected it. Then quit HM and restarted but still no joy.

    Not only select Prefetch flag
You need to add folder indicated there in autoimport list.

The folder location is as directed in the link you put,

    C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Importing\HEM Data

I did not need to select this folder - it was already selected as was prefetch.

Yep, the auto-detect should add this automatically.
    Your stars lobby is english?

Please try the different screenscrape methods in the table preferences. (reboot after change).

If it still doesn't work please post a screenshot of a table and please attach your holdemmanager.config file from c:\program files(x86)\rvg software\holdem manager\config folder (or something similar depending on your installation). it may be just called holdemmanager if you've extensions turned off.
