3B is premium, 4B is premium

Can you please explain these stats to me, or point me to a definitive glossary?
For instance, I'm looking at a player who has a 3B of 6, a 3B is premium of 5, a 4B of 18, and a 4B is premium of 22.

And how about 3B Range and 4B Range? What exactly do these mean with an example?

You can see the definition of any stat in the Stats Picker or by hovering over the stat name in the column header of a report.

- 3Bet is Premium = Percent of time a player's 3Bet is premium (AA,KK,QQ,AK) for known hole cards
- 4Bet Range = Range of hands player reraises preflop when facing a 3bet - based on 48et Percent x Raise unraised pot Pct

I'm trying to make sense of these (and other) stats/values.

For instance, I have a villain who I would consider as one of the tighest players I've encountered.

Over a 6k hand sample 6-handed, I have him at VP:16, PFR:11, 3B:6.2

With a 6.2% 3B, I'd expect villain's 3B-range to look linear and be something like this: 99+,ATs+,AQo+,KQs (6.03%)

QQ+,AK accounts for 2.56% of hands/combos, which is 42.45% of his 3-bet range.

Yet, his "3B is Premium" is 5. Surely a player of this caliber has 3-bets that account for more than 5% of his 3-bet range being Premium.

So, then what exactly does this number represent? The definition "Percent of time a player's 3Bet is premium (AA,KK,QQ,AK) for known hole cards" doesn't make sense to me unless all of the times villains hole cards are not known are also being factored in and skewing the results, making it appear as if this player has a premium much less often than he does.


Furthermore, his 4B is 17.8% and his 4B is Premium is 22.2%. Does this mean that of the 11% of the time villain raises preflop, 17.8% of the time he will 4-bet (Percent of time player reraises preflop when raising and facing a 3bet)? This would amount to 11 * .178 = 1.958% of all combos, which is close to the 2.56% of premium combos and close to what I'd expect. Albeit, I'm again unclear as to what the 22.2% value of 4B is Premium represents, or should I say, how I should interpret it.

This issue has been documented in detail and provided to the developers to resolve.

HMT-5298: 3Bet, 4Bet and 5Bet is Premium stats not accurate for opponents
- "The "3/4bet is premium" stats need to be fixed, as it counts every 4bet that didn't reach the showdown as non-premium."

The HM3 3Bet (or 4bet etc) is premium formula currently works like this:

(DidThreeBet and IsPremiumCards) / DidThreeBet

So you could say, that if he 3Bets 100 times, and 5 times he shows AA, and we don't know what cards he has the other 95 times, his 3Bet is premium will be shown as 5%.

It's going to be less accurate with fewer showdown hands in the 3Bet range of villains, versus looking at your 3Bet range where every hero hole card is known for you regardless of if you saw a showdown.

In the reports, you will need to apply a 'SawShowdown=True' filter to get a more accurate result until we can resolve the issue.
