Default Massive increase in RAM use since moving to 3.1.14.6442

Well over 50% increase and, naturally, it's interfering with everything. I run a 16Gb system and it's currently using around 12Gb.

Any reason for this? I'm aware many people are going to struggle since 8Gb is the normal RAM size.

Any way I can get it to use less RAM?

Note, since typing that it's settled down to it's more normal 6Gb.

So it's a transient thing for the first half hour of loading up? Appreciate any guidance on this.

And ... back up to 12Gb.

    - If you have an 'Alias' selected as the active player try selecting a specific site screen name with fewer hands and exit HM3, close the HM3 server, and restart HM3.
    - Does disabling the HM3 - Live Play - [ ] 'Automatically refresh' option help eliminate that busy cursor issue and improve your performance?
    - How big is your database and how many hero hands are in the database? How many tables do you typically play at the same time when you see these issues?* How long is your average session?
    - Does it help if you open the HM3 - Apps - NoteCaddy menu and 'Disable NoteCaddy'?

Is that a custom HUD you created or imported from HM2? Do you have the same problems if you use the HM3 'Standard' HUD profile?

    1) Try to remove any unused or extra popups from the HM3 HUD profile, that you might have imported from HM2. With HM3 it loads the stats for all the associated popups even if you are not using them.

    - HM3 - HUD - HUD Editor - 'Profile:' = select the profile you want to edit.
    - Options - 'Export' or 'Duplicate' the profile so you have a backup copy before you make any edits.
    - Click the 'Popup Groups' button in the upper right corner.
    - In the upper left under 'Groups' you can select then 'Delete' any unused popups.

This should help speed up the overall HUD and popups performance.

    2) If you continue to have problems:

    - Try to remove positional stats directly in the hud (stats using position item property in the Hud Editor)
    - Try to reduce number of stats in the HUD
    - Try to disable session stats in tooltips (HM3 - HUD - HUD Options)
    - Try to set max number of hands limit lower in HUD Options
    - Try to reduce the number of hands in the database (new database and import only a small portion of the hands)
    - For popup loading speeds: reduce number of popups and complexity of the popups

    3) If none of that helps:

Please create a support ticket with a link to this thread and your forum username.

Please reproduce and screenshot the error and send us both your Windows Event Viewer application logs, and your \Desktop\HM3logs\ folder of files, as instructed below with a detailed description of what you were doing and what problems you were experiencing:

    a) Open Windows Event Viewer's (Control Panel - System & Security - Administrative Tools or Start - Search - 'Event Viewer') - Windows Logs - Applications.
    - Check for any errors and send the information (right-click - Save All Events As...) and compress*/attach that file to this support ticket.
    - Here is a short video showing how to collect those event viewer logs.

    b) Also send the following HM3Logs files manually:
    - Close HM3 and the Holdem Manager Server icon in the system tray.
    - If it is not running or fully launched please open your Windows Task Manager and right-click - End Task on 'Holdem Manager 3', 'HM3 HUD' and 'HoldemManager.Server' if you see them.
    - Click Start (Windows Icon) - Holdem Manager 3 - 'Copy HM3 Log Files to Desktop'
    - Then zip* and attach all (Ctrl+A - Right-Click - Send to - Compressed (zipped) folder) files in that folder to a support ticket here with a detailed, step by step, description of what you did before the error.
    - Here is a direct link to your My Tickets page.
    - Here is a short video showing how to collect those HM3logs.

Note: When sending any files please zip them (select all files with CTRL+A > right-click > send to > compressed folder) before attaching them to an email. If the attachment is larger than 10MB please upload them to a file hosting site like Dropbox, then in Windows File Explorer right-click (DropBox Icon) 'Share' > 'Create Link' > Copy Link' and right-click > 'Paste' the download link directly into the support ticket email. If you have any problems with Dropbox try using WeTransfer or FileDropper or Google Drive and copy/paste the download link to us.

    - No alias.
    - Haven't used the live play tab since that bug showed up where it showed the wrong stats many months ago. Did check it a couple weeks back and the bug was still there. Did have 'automatically refresh' disabled due to an earlier bug, that got resolved, ages ago. I have the busy cursor issue despite this but I will check it's off when I next log in.
    - 2m hands in database. Saw these issues today as soon as I started HM3 so from 0 tables all the way up to my max for the day which was 2 tables. Reg tables, nice and slow.
    - Notecaddy already disabled.

HUD popups already pretty minimal but there's perhaps a few stats I could remove or combine.

All of my settings, though, are unchanged yet this shows up when upgrading to 3.1.14.6442. I'll check all the things you mentioned but is looking at my settings really likely to be the issue since the only thing that changed is whatever you did under the hood with the last update?

    Since the last update:
-Deleted some popups I don't use.
-Disabled session stats in HUD options
-Lowered max hands to 10k from 20k

    Same issue.

Strangely tangential but I've been having heat dissipation issues which I'll solve today. Perhaps better cooling will help even though I can't put a reason on why.

You are using a laptop? Overheating, i.e. insufficient cooling, could certainly contribute to performance issues.

If you continue to have problems please reproduce the problems and send us your Windows and HM3logs a s instructed in number 3 of my previous post so we can see what else might be causing your issues.

Fixed the cooling issue, no change.

Tried to purge some old hands but that process crashed while running overnight.

Created a new database and it started at 12Gb RAM while empty. Loaded in this year's hands, about 800k, and it's still using 12Gb RAM. So I'll try and follow those instructions for sending you lots of details.

Also, you said in another thread where someone mentioned this issue that you'd not had any logs sent in about it. Well, HM3 has auto-sent you 3 sets of logs while this issue has been ongoing.

Anyway, all files and logs attached to support ticket.

I have the same problem. I m using a 900K hands database. I can't even have it work while playing. Also HUD doesn't work on tournament for me. There is a big problem here I didn't have with HM2. Also I m still waiting and hoping HUD will be back for pokerstars.fr with HM2 because right now, I can't use HM3 at all. I don't have enough ram for that ( 8GO not enough ! ).

I can't load the quick filter "session" or anything else, most of the time, HM3 is freezing. When HUD wasn't too frozed, I could have the HUD in regular table, but in zoom, the statistic were always late. Also, most pop up doesn't open because it's take too much time. This is not a working version !!!
