Please see this FAQ to transfer/backup data - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/ques...dem+Manager%3F

This will ensure that you have your hand histories and HUD saved to import into a new computer, and as a backup to restore in case of an emergency. I recommend you do this at least once a month and keep the last 2 or 3 most recent backups (and your \HM2Archive folder) stored on an external drive and/or cloud storage site like dropbox or google drive.

Do i need to backup the database for this to work? I did that but without the database. My idea is to start fresh with a new database and only import hands from the last 3 months. I backed up from old computer and restored with the new computer. It got back the huds and notecaddy definition, but reports and handmarking categories didn't. I copy-paste the folder reports from old computer to new computer and it worked. But i don't know how to do to get all the hand tags i created.

The hand tags/marks are part of the database. The only way to restore them is to backup the whole database and restore that entire database. If you don't want all the old hands then you should manually add all of the custom tags to the new database. You can technically restore the whole DB to get the tags and purge all the old hands, vacuum the database, etc but that database will still be larger than if the hands had never been imported or restored and then purged and vac'd from the database.
