Angry No space on hard drive because of NoteCaddy

    Hi,

I use NC in HEM2. Yesterday, while using HEM2, I noticed there were 400 pending actions in NC.

All the pending actions are like :
    - Removing SpinNGo note definition XXX
    - Creating SpinNGo note definition XXX
    - Removing SpinNGo note definition YYY
    - Creating SpinNGo note definition YYY
    etc.

I launched these pending actions and left my office. I probably had around 30GB of free space on my HD at that time.

When I came back, the PC had rebooted and there was no more space on the HD.
    I removed 30GB of files.
At that time, the postgreSQL folder was 70 GB big.
    396 pending actions were remaining.
    I launched them.

Now, there's no more free space again.
The postgreSQL folder contain 106 GB of data.
There are still 392 pending actions.
The database where I am performing the pending actions is 82GB big, whereas it is supposed to be a small one one regarding the number of HH (other DB contain much more HH).
Even if I only select the pending actions which consist in removing definitions, the database size increases.

    What should I do?

PS : I have created many custom NC definitions a long time ago, and I would not like to lose them. It's probably used in HUDs. This is the reason why I have not uninstalled NC yet.

    Hi krheni,

You should not run many pending actions like that. Instead reset and reprocess your notes. Restart your HM2 and then follow the instructions in this link: http://wiki.assaultware.com/How-to-r...ddy-notes.ashx. It won't delete your definitions, it will only remove the data created by your definitions, and then when you click start to reprocess that data will fill back in.

You should make sure that postgresql is not creating log files like in this link: http://wiki.assaultware.com/How-to-D...gres-logs.ashx

If you go into your NoteCaddy and right-click on any note definition then click "Open containing folder" you should see your note definitions and your backup folders. If you have many many backup folders you can delete some to save space. Be sure to keep at least a couple backups that you know include the definitions you need.

There is also a Vacuum feature in NoteCaddy which you could try if you like (NoteCaddy -> Tools -> Vacuum Database).

I'm cleaning up my hard drive and found a lot of backup folders here:

I guess it's safe to delete all of these, except for the most recent one?

    Hello LucHarding,

Yes, it's certainly safe to remove the backups. Enjoy the freed up space
