I had an Error 1069 Logon Failure with Postgres and solved this by going to Postgres properties and changing login to "Local System Account".
Can I use this as a permanent fix, or are there issues with this workaround? Thanks!

Depends of Windows and SQL versions. For example: 1-2 months ago SQL 8.4 wasn`t able to start if u set this checkbox in Win 10. So this issue could back in future. But... Who knows...
Thanks Ishikawa. Okay, so this solution may not work permanently. I do have Win 10 with SQL 8.4.
I hope HM3 will be released soon. It would be nice to have a system that does not run on SQL . I keep getting problems with Postgres from time to time.
How exactly did you get there, I mean, steps to do what you did?? I have continuous problems and it is alway a major PITA to get rid of them (HEM cant connect to SQL database). I have to do all kinds of time consuming things, and they dont work now. This is the 4th time in as many months that I cannot use my HEM2....
@Fletchdad: Go to Services --> PostgresQL --> Right click properties --> Tab "Logon" --> Change it to Local system account.
Note that this will probably only work if you get a 1069 error (Logon Failure) when trying to start Postgres. It won't work for other Postgres issues I reckon.
Same here, my Postgres problems keep coming back. It will work for some time, and then HEM2 won't start again because of new Postgres issues.
This is usually a firewall or windows update issue and the following guide gives a step by step guide:

If you continue to have problems, please duplicate the issue and send us log files with a detailed description of what you were doing and what problems you were experiencing:
- Open Windows Event Viewer's (Control Panel > System & Security > Administrative Tools or Start > Search > 'Event Viewer') > Windows Logs > Applications.
- Check for any errors and send the information (Save All Events As...).
- Please send a log file as well - Hold'Em Manager 2 FAQs - Poker Software :: How Do I Send a Log File to Holdem Manager Support?
When sending any files please zip them (right-click > send to > compressed folder) before attaching them to an email. If the attachment is larger than 10MB please upload them to a file hosting site like dropbox, then right-click > 'copy public link' and paste the download link directly into the support ticket email. If you have any problems with dropbox try using filedropper.com
