Stay on PostgreSQL 8.4 or upgrade to 9.x?

Hello support

I just bought NoteCaddy so I'm working through the "NoteCaddy Performance Guide" [pdf]:

On page 2 it recommends going to PostgreSQL 9.0, but I suspect this is guide is a bit old

SYSTEM:
Windows 7 64-bit
4Gb memory
Intel 4-core i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz
Mechanical HDD [7200rpm]
PostgreSQL 8.4 32-bit

QUESTIONS:

[1] Given my system spec [which I'm not changing for a year or two!] is it worthwhile to upgrade to PostgreSQL 9.x?

[2] If your answer is "yes"...

What version should I download [is there a 64-bit compatible PostgreSQL 9.x for example]?

Please supply DL link for best PG version & installation instructions

For Snowie and some cultures on Windows 10, you'll need to upgrade.

There isn't that big of a difference between the versions in speed.

Download PostgreSQL | EnterpriseDB

Do not use 9.1

Test. This is the latest post that didn't appear in this thread right away [& no message re moderation either]:

"Thanks. Therefore I'll stay with my current version 8.4
I have 64-bit Home Premium so I may install another 4, 8 or 12Gb RAM & delete the HM2 ramcap [page 4 of guide]"

There's nothing in the moderation queue. It just looks like it didn't go through. Unless it was the one you edited, I didn't see anything like that.
