Default Can not open HM2 because of PostgreSQL Database connection error

    Hi

Once again this lousy software fails. Not sure, maybe it's the 100'th anniversary for failing for me.

Anyway here goes: I wanted to start todays Zoom grind. First problem: No HUD popping up. I read others have the same issue - alrighty. Then shortly after HM2 shut down by itself, saying "can not connect to postgreSQL" (or something like that). Now that I try to restart HM2 i get the same message "can't connect to PostgreSQL (wrong server, port, or firewall enabled?). HM2's own troubleshooting obviously doesn't work (surprise ..has anything in HM2 ever worked really?).

So what to do? Wait 3-4 days for lousy, probably more or less useless, HM2-support as usual??

Yeah sorry for my language, I know it's not exactly encouraging to help me out. But both software and support members have failed assisting with huge issues so many times I have lost count.

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing trouble.

I can't find any emails or forum posts in the last year from you, so I'm not sure what trouble you've been experiencing.

Did you update - we released an update yesterday for Zoom. Stars rolled out major changes. Please update to this version
    http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloa...AutoUpdate.exe

Is this popup after you start HM2 or will it not start?

If it starts, did you try a new database?

What is your antivirus and firewall?

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue and the following guide gives a step by step guide:
    http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/ques...rt+PostgreSQL+

Many of those free Norton, Mcaffee, Comodo, Zonealarm, Avira, Avast, AVG, Bitdefender, etc, 'internet security' bundles will not work well with Holdem Manager.

Please do the following steps, so we can get your computer to a state that we know will work with Holdem Manager:

    1) Uninstall any 3rd party security software bundles.
    2) Reboot your computer
    3) Please install the latest version: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloa...ger_2_Beta.exe
    - After downloading, you should right-click the file, go to properties and click unblock. Then, right click the file and run as administrator.
    4) Enable Windows Firewall's recommended settings through your Control Panel, turn off Windows Defender, and add firewall exceptions for HM and SQL - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/ques...rewall%29#MSES
    5) Install Microsoft Security Essentials for antivirus/malware protection and update it - Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

If you continue to have problems:

Make sure windows is fully updated until 'No New Important Updates are Found' (this may require multiple restarts and multiple 'check for updates'), including Internet Explorer (even if you use a different web browser).

    1) Uninstall PostgreSQL from the Windows Control Panel.

    2) Delete the \PostgreSQL\X.x\data folder that is left behind.

    3) Delete the sub-folder(s) in c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\HoldemManager\Da tabase (XP - c:\documents and settings\username\application data\HoldemManager\Database).

    4) run the command - start > programs > accessories > command prompt > right-click > run as administrator

    net user postgres /delete

After you click 'Enter' for the code above also do that same for this code:

    sc delete postgresql-8.4

    and click 'Enter' again.

    5) Restart your PC

    6) Install PostgreSQL 9.0 or 9.2 from postgresql.org

    7) Once installed you should disable the postgresql logging as instructed here - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/ques...arge+Log+Files

If there is still an issue, we need to know the error - it is in the temp folder - bitrockinstaller.txt file. If you can't see it, turn off the windows option that is hiding that directory. http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questio...es+in+Windows+
