PostgreSQL connection problem win10

    Exclamation PostgreSQL connection problem win10

    When I first installed win10 two weeks ago, it worked fine the first day. The second day it would not connect to postgres, but after i restarted my PC it worked again. I have not had the issue anymore until just now. I have restarted and it is still not connecting to postgres. HM2 is running as admin and also all the .exe are exceptions in windows defender. What can this be? How can I fix this?

    Did you try re-installing the latest update of your version of Postgres from EnterpriseDB | The Postgres Database Company

    Please make sure you follow all of this guide:

    I am using 8.4, do you suggest I upgrade to 9.x ?

    FYI, I have already done all of the steps to my computer prior to your email reply. I have had all of the steps done on my PC for a long time because I had some issues a couple years ago. The only thing I did notice after updating to win10 was that I had to check run as admin for a bunch of my .exe files which I have already done about 1 month ago. Also I have about every suggested exclusion from AV, firewall, defender, etc. Not sure what the problem could be, but my win10 is up to date also.

    Did you fix the permissions settings for the folders as well?

    Here is a guide to help with issues with Windows 8 and HM. Since 10 is basically 8, this will apply as well.

    I changed the permission settings for the postgreSQL folder and the hm acrchives, but it is still not connecting. There was a win10 update on the 28th, it was after this that it has stopped working.

    the update to 8.4.22 seems to have fixed it!

    experiencing the same issue. can i update to 8.4.22 without losing my db?
