Default large database causing to freeze. how do i create new database?

Hi, i recently added large amount of hands to my database (OM2) which was around 500k-600k hands. Now i added 2.5-3M hands more. When import was finished i turned computer off. Then. later, i turned it on and launched OM2. But at the start after the hands were preselected for studying once i hit "Report" tab it just froze and i had to reboot eventually. Same thing happens over and over and i've waited for hours yesterday and it just won't work normal as it used to. Obviously it makes it unplayable but unusable also. Before i made that import it was working fine for a month that i've been using it with minor lags here and there but nothing of the sort of what's happening now.

Now, i understand that my system might be unable to work with such large database (~650MB). My computer is fairly old by today's standard. I obviously should have imported those hands into a separate database. But if i create a new database and start playing again i should get it working fine right? But how do i create a new database if i can't get the proram running?

Please try to vacuum/analyze and reindex your database - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/ques...29#maintenance

If you continue to have problems, try the following:

Try creating a new DataBase and import a small portion of your \HM2Archive so you can see if the problem exists in the new DB - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/ques...y+played+hands

If the new database seems to work properly, it sounds like your database might be corrupt. Please continue to use the new database and import the rest of your hands using the steps above.

Well, the problem is i can't create a new database with the described method above. The program freezes permanently before i can click "add database".

The problem is i can't analyze database or create a new one. The program freezes permanently before i can do anything.

Try to move the database folder from

    For Windows Vista/7/8: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\HoldemManager\
    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\User_name\Application Data\HoldemManager

See this tutorial for showing system and hidden files:
    http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/ques...in+Windows%3F+

to your desktop and restart HM2.

Create a new database, make sure you name it something else.

I'm really sorry and I know there is nothing more frustrating than having issues like this when trying to play. I hope i can help you resolve this quickly.

What is your hard drive model, RAM and CPU? You can find this in your Control Panel - System - Device Manager. Sometimes lower spec PC's can contribute to lagging but that is not to say we can't still improve it further.

Does it help if you try disabling Note Caddy? Open HUD Settings, make sure you are on the HUD Designer tab, and uncheck "Show Caddy notes in HUD." Restart HM2.

In the meantime while you reply with those details I have a couple of things you can try that will improve the performance of your PC in general

Please check these 2 FAQs and try all the steps there to see if they help:
    - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/ques...%28Firewall%29 - Resolves issues where security software continually try to scan files and processes which can slow down your PC
    - http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/ques...rts+%26+HUD%29 - General tips and solutions for performance issues

A few other things you could try to see if it helps when playing:
    - Does it help you disable the Options > Settings > General Settings > Miscellaneous > [ ] 'Automatically Refresh' option and restart HM2?
    - Try leaving HM2 on the 'Home' tab when playing.
    - Try picking a villain in the reports that only has a few hands in your database instead of your hero and restart HM2.
    - Try creating a new smaller database with just hands from the past 1 or 2 months to use when playing.

If you continue to have problems, please reproduce the problem, describe exactly what you were doing, and attach your log.txt file -

in an email to support@holdemmanager.com with a link to this thread.

You can then later close HM2 and move that folder back.

2GB of RAM is the bare minimum HM2 will work with. For optimal performance we recommend 8GB or more, a SSD drive instead of the slower HDD drives and an i5 or i7 CPU. Are these hands you imported your own hands or bought/mined hands? As datamining is against the rules at most/all of the sites we support we can not provide technical support with hands customers didn't actually play in. If you are having problems importing actual played hands you can send them to us via email and we can try to solve those problems - but we can not spend our resources trying to help you break the terms of service at sites we support.
