PostgreSQL service won't start (now postgreSQL won't even install anymore)

So I want to start my HEM 2 today, but suddenly it can't connect to the PostgreSQL service. So I've followed all the steps in the troubleshoot, but nothing worked. When I reached the advanced steps I uninstalled my postgreSQL 8.4 and wanted to install a newer version. But when installing a newer version, I need to enter my password. So I entered my password for my postgres, but it says it isn't correct (now matter which password I try or how often I try). I also don't know where I can find what this password was changed into suddenly...?!

So right now, I've deleted all my antivirus software, I removed my postgreSQL 8.4 and can't install a new one. Which leaves me pretty crippled at the moment... So first of all I would like to get my postgreSQL back, then I might start thinking about a solution why it suddenly couldn't connect to my postgreSQL service anymore.

Right, so I've been trying all those steps over and over again. Now for some reason it reinstalled postgreSQL and I can open my HEM 2. My database is gone, but importing from my HM2archive folder, hope everything is stored there...

But I guess postgreSQL problem is solved.

Yes, installing a new version of postgresql will force you to create a new database.
