Default superfast Growing DB after update

Hi, my DB grows by 1G every 10 mins of play when "automatically start taking notes on hem launch" is checked.

I have been using NC for quite some time now and this is the first time it doing this. Yesterday my DB grew to 200G (with 350k hands in total).

I deleted and recreated notes and the DB shrank to under 1G but now it is growing again.

Is there any workaround to this that you know of?

    Thank you.

What happens when you run vacuum after 100k hands or so?

the DB grows by 1g every 100 hands, lol, I guess I'd need to have a 1000 G HD to say that - and I don't.

I rutinely full vacuum db via hem btw. I did it also via pgadmin for no gain. I got back my HD space only after deleting all nc notes but as I said it is growing again superfast, I have to disable note taking while playing - and I hate it obv.

p.s.: forgot to mention that the problem started after having rolled back to a prev version of hem2 (it was suggested from hem support to solve a problem I had with importing). now I reupdated hem to the current version but the nc problem is still there.

Did you try a clean new-installation of HM2? I think this could solve your problem.

this and/or new database. Vacillating between versions like that can cause all kinds of problems

ah, ok, this i what I wanted to know, ty. so you are saying that it will be enough to create a new database and import all my 370k hands there? no need to reinstall hem from scratch? (things that scares me as there is always something that wont backup properly...)

Definitely try it first. I've never seen this before so I'm not 100% sure

hey reticent, once created the new DB how do I import hands from the old one? It seems I can only import from hem1.

edit: found the manual importing but when I import the hem archive folder I get 200k hands out of 370k, the 170k hands missing are the older, where to look for those?

You can export the hands from the old database into text files through the database screen then import the text files into the new one

sry reticent but what do you mean with database screen? you mean the hands shown under reports in hem? if so, I believe that is not well handled by the program, it freezes and is not responding and so on.
