    Default Cloud sync

    Hey,

I was always syncing my database to the cloud. So now I decided to format my computer, then I installed holdem manager, when I synced my empty database with the one in the cloud the software was downloading hands for a couple of hours (3k+ batches) but now it is finished and I only have 8k of my hands in my actual database... I really hope I did not lose all my hands? If I click sync again it says that DB is synced...

    Try a new database.

    Please create a new database.

    1) Click the database name in the bottom right corner (2nd in)

    2) Click the green + sign

    3) Name it, click ok.

    4) Import the hands from c:\hm2archive

You want to make sure you regularly make backups.

    Please see this FAQ:

If you formatted your hard drive, they will not be there.

Try syncing to that new db.

This is what you should regularly backup

The cloud is designed for syncing databases between multiple computers that you play on. It can be used as a back up as well but it should never be your only means of a backup. You should save your original hands that get moved to the \HM2Archive folder (I recommend you add \HM2Archive folder you dropbox) and you should also create regular database backups. I recommend you make a backup of your database at least once a month and then store that backup file on an external drive and/or online storage like dropbox.

If you play a site like stars/ftp you can email their support and ask for all your old hand histories and tourney histories/results.

Is there some kind of delay for synchronization between two computers?

    Hands I played 1 hour ago in PC # 1 has not synchronized on my PC # 2;

You have to manually sync the hands from the database manager which can be accessed from the Home tab HM Sync menu. After you are done playing on pc1 you have to sync those hands up to the cloud then sync them down manually on pc2. It is not automatic.

    Right.

So what's the purpose of this cloud?

If synchronization has to be done manually, and can not be considered a backup. What it is for?

It was designed as a way for customers to manually sync the hands between the 2 computers. We have plans to re-work it in the future using code from our new HM Cloud Beta program but there is no ETA for when that work will be completed as it is a big project. It is not clear at this point if it will be an automated process or still require manual syncing by the user. The current HM Sync does have a setting to sync on exit to somewhat automate it.
