Default HEM2 has become very slow when reviewing hands, how can I fix this?

I recently created a new DB and re-imported most of my hands since I felt HEM2 was a bit sluggish. But the problem hasn't become any better. When playing poker the HUD is very responsive and I have no issues. But when I replay a hand the table and stats load instantly, but then it it takes like 10 seconds before I can actually play back the hand with the replayer sometimes freezing for a while. HEM2 has usually been lightning fast, so I guess some piece of the software setup makes it slower than usual. Any advice on how to fix this? I had hoped a new DB would have fixed it but it doesn't appear that way. Can't remember if it was at all faster after the new DB since I haven't played much.

I have an i7 CPU, a Samsung 256GB SSD for my system drive (inc HEM2 & Postgre) and 16gigs of memory. Task manager usually shows the CPU usage as 1% with a few spikes up to 20% when I load the hand. Physical memory usage is like 30%.

    Thanks for any help

Please uninstall HM2 and reinstall the latest version: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloa...er_2_Setup.exe

Make sure you are running HM2 as an administrator
    1) Go to C:\Program Files\Holdem Manager 2 (Program Files (x86) for the 64bit version)
    2) Right click the HoldemManager.exe and choose "Properties".
    3) Go to the Compatibility Tab and select "Run this program as an Administrator".
    4) Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for HudFuncsApp.exe

Add exceptions for HM2, PostgreSQL, and any other programs you use for poker to your firewall and anti-virus exceptions lists.

Turn off User Account Control: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/1...windows-7/]How to Disable and Turn Off UAC in Windows 7 My Digital Life

Run a manual Windows Update and install all updates, including all .net framework updates.

You need to make sure that this folder

    Windows 7/8/Vista: C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\HoldemManager\
Showing hidden files and sytem files and folders: Show hidden files

    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\User_name\Application Data\HoldemManager
Showing hidden files and sytem files and folders: Microsoft Corporation

is not read only and that all permissions are set to full for your user name. The folder will continue showing read only after that, this is an issue in Windows.

Thanks, but do these apply since HEM2 has been running really smoothly last fall, so I had HEM2 working fine - so is it possible that some run as administrator setting got changed without me doing it? I mean is it really relevant to go through all those steps with my antivirus and all since I guess that's a template reply you give to people who just installed HEM2 and have issues.

It is possible that a recent windows update could have changed some settings back so it is a good idea to make sure all the run as admin and exceptions are still properly set.

There are some known performance issues in the replayer.

    - Try setting the Replayer > Settings > Max replayer hands: to a smaller number.
    - Try disabling the Replayer > Options (gear icon) > [ ] Current action highlight

    Thanks Fozzy!

I tried out your suggestions for the replayer, and added the compatibility settings for HudFuncsApp.exe - made no difference. Then I went to Notecaddy and deleted all my notes, again no difference. Then I turned of "Show Caddy Notes" and restarted HEM2 and voila, HEM2 replayer runs smooth as butter again. Guess there must be something in my NCE package that made the replayer incredibly slow.

Please follow these instuctions for updating Note Caddy

How to make sure you have the very latest NoteCaddy build - Assaultware Wiki

In HM Apps - Note Caddy - File - Settings, turn on caddy logging.

    Please duplicate the issue.

Open Windows Event Viewer's - Windows Logs - Applications.

Check for any errors and send the information by saving the error. They should be right at the top. We need errors, not information.

Please send a log file as well.
