valid liense not found (upgrading from hem1)

Can you guys pls make a clear and definitive guide for users upgrading from HEM1 to HEM2 and getting the "valid license not found" error?
And make it sticky maybe?

I just bought my hem2 upgrade and I'm trying to install the thing on the same pc on which I run hem1 on. I'm getting the "valid license not found" error.

I can find no holdemmanager2.lic, I only have a holdemmanager.lic (not "2"). Should I erase that as well?

Pls help, ty (and help yourselves getting some programming lessons maybe?)

Ok I was a di*k but what about trying to actually help a customer of yours who not only bought hem1 but then bought hem2 AND leak buster AND note caddy? I mean, I spent some money here and I get to be addressed to a useless FAQ? Are you serious?
I need seomeone to be helping me in STARTING the frigging program!

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\holdemmanager.exe, hudfuncsapp.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager2 installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall for those files even if the firewall is turned off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily.

Run a manual Windows Update and install all updates, including all .net framework updates.
