Default firewall blocking autoupdate and license registratioon

    BitDefender IS 2012
Firewall won't allow internet access for update or license registration (O.K. if turned off)
What exceptions do I need to make.
HoldemManager.exe has permission to do anything

Why do I have to reenter license key after every update?

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\XHEO INC\SharedLicenses
does not contain Holdem Manager 2.lic
just 1 directory Mirror which is empty

    Are you using Windows XP?

THe file can be found at: C:\ProgramData\XHEO INC\SharedLicenses\HoldemManager2.lic (XP Users can find the file at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\AppData\XHEO INC\SharedLicenses\HoldemManager2.lic)

This is a hidden SYSTEM file (not just a regular hidden file), so make sure you enable you can see those files in Windows first.

Also add exceptions to the windows firewall for holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe, even if the Windows firewall is turned off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it.

Can you see the .lic file if you enable to see hidden system files?

Uninstall BitDefender. Also add exceptions to the windows firewall for holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe, even if the Windows firewall is turned off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it.

For the avoidance of doubt HM2 v.2.0.07678
Can you see the .lic file if you enable to see hidden system files?
    No

    Uninstall BitDefender
You're kidding right? not an option.

HM2 works fine except when there's an update.
So, no problem with holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe accessing the internet.

What else needs internet access when updating and registering license? If you don't know, please ask your IT dept.
    HmUpdate.exe sounds like it does

    hmhud.exe = HudFuncsApp.exe? That's what runs when I start hud

Added exception for HudFuncsApp.exe and hmupdate.exe and auto update worked.
    Still wanted registration which failed.
However after restarting HM2 it just worked.

Antiviruses can be added back after installing and registering.

If it continues to cause trouble though, there are antiviruses and firewalls that do not cause these issues. We recommend using Microsoft Security Essentials and Firewall, as they are solid and do not cause issues with HM and poker programs.

    1) Open control panel

    2) Go to network and Internet - internet options

    3) Click connections

    4) Click LAN Settings

    5) Uncheck "Use a proxy server for your LAN"

    6) click ok

    7) If you use Firefox , click the options, go to options - advanced - connection settings.

    8) Click no proxy.

    9) Click OK

    10) Please add:
    - holdemmanager.exe
    - hudfuncapps.exe
    - postgres.exe, pg_ctl.exe (in postgres\bin)
    - hmupdate.exe (available only during an update)

to the list of exceptions in your firewall and antivirus.

    11) Please make sure you are running and installing as an administrator.

Please try all the steps on this FAQ and send us a new log file as described at the end if you still have problems -
