    Default Recover Orphaned HM2 database

About 4 months ago, I completely uninstalled postgres and HM2, reinstalled them both, and rebuilt my database entirely from hand histories.

In the process, my original HM2 database became orphaned.

I now realize that it has some hands in it that don't exist any more.
I would like to "attach" the database to my current HM2 installation, but I can't figure out how -- either in HM2 or PGAdmin.

    Is there a way?
My system is non-standard, in that my system drive is not C:
Also, my databases are stored on a fast drive with nothing else on it.
Postgres starts with the following line:
    E:/Program Files/PostgreSQL/8.4/bin/pg_ctl.exe runservice -N "postgresql-8.4" -D "J:/PostgreData" -w

I moved the orphaned HM2 database into J:/PostgreData but more needs to be done.

    What can I do here?

    Thanks,
    --TD

    Read: http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/ques...e+or+Partition
After moving the database to the J:/PostgreData folder, reboot your computer.
Then check in pgadminIII if the database is now visible.

If it's not visible, reinstall PostreSQL.
After you see the database in pgadminIII, add the location of the parent folder (/Roaming/Database).
See the last part of the move database FAQ page for that.

Yes, I did all of that when I moved my PostgreSQL datafolder to its new location.
My *current* HM2 database works properly from the new location.
In the old location are 3 database folder structures.
Each of them contains 2 subfolders: "Importing" and "Players"
    Can these databases be recovered?

I tried to create a new HM2 database and just copy those folders into it, but the new database still shows as empty in HM2

    Edit:
I just realized that we have *two* data folders to consider:
1 is the datafolder referred to in the service start command line.
2 is the folder referred to as "parent folder" when creating a new database from within HM2.

    Mine are different.
The files I want to recover are in the HM2 Parent folder location.
I'm beginning to suspect that what I want to do is not possible.

    Thanks,

    1. There are two folders. A PostgreSQL database folder: J:/PostgreData
    (default is C:/PostgreSQL/8.4/data)
And the parent folder (C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\HoldemManager \Database)
The location of the parent folder is written (and can be changed) in the PostgreSQL database.
Do you have a backup of both folders?

    2. Yes you can also select the location of this folder, when you create a new database.

Thanks. No I do not have a backup of the PostgreSQL database folder.
I did, however find a CD with all my early hand histories saved onto it, so I have the data I need.

Thanks for your time and trouble.

As a side benefit, I now understand PostgreSQL a whole lot better!
