Software Noob + I'm really really dumb

I don't know how to tie my shoes or how I get out of the front door each day so please consider that when explaining how to fix my problem.

I DLed HEM yesterday and all I see are long black bars going across the table with the player name and ton of this "-/-"

What am I doing wrong? I watched some youtube user tutorials but that didn't help.

In your HUD one of the stats is a #hands stat.
Does that stat update 1, 2, 3--> if you play. (easiest would be to play a NON RUSH table to test this)
