Problem with postgreSQL

So I decided to get myself the holdem manager trial, with the intention of upgrading if it helps (which it no doubt will). The problem is connecting to the postgres server, I have followed the video that can be accessed through the troubleshooting link but to no avail.

One difference that I see between the video and my own experience is that the section of the video when he searches for start server. Well mine says start service, however the black window doesn't open regardless of whether I run as administrator. I don't know if this is due to postgres being installed in Program Files(x86) instead of just in Local Disk(C: )

Would really appreciate some help on this, for the meantime I'll keep going through the video to see if I missed something.

P.S I am completely new to this so if these types of issues aren't for the forums then any admins feel free to remove the thread


Edit: Now that I'm further into the video I realise x86 is ok, but I'm still baffled as to why something is going wrong.

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?
