Default Excel and HEM = BLINKING ICONS

I've talked about this before in these forums, but have narrowed it down a bit...

    WinXPSP3. Dualmon system.

Open HEM 1.09b32. Start Import. Click on cash games, sessions (or something else).

Open an Excel 2007 spreadsheet. Use it for a few seconds.

Switch back to HEM. Click on something else or click refresh.

Result: My icons on my desktop start blinking, I am unable to type (it misses charaters), and it lasts for quite a while (seems to make the query go WAY slower than it would if Excel wasn't open).

If I close both Excel and HEM and reopen HEM, problem is gone.

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe

Under Vista and Windows 7 make sure UAC is disabled http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=73 or holdemmanager.exe, hmhud.exe, and dbcontrolpanel.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe, and the hmhud.exe executable and select "Run as admin" from the popup menu.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall, even if it is off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily - http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm...aspx?faqid=171

Make sure your video card drivers and windows auto updates are fully updated. Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed.

If that doesnt help I will have to ask the developers to assist.

    WinXP - so no UAC.

    Updated to latest Beta: 40.

Added programs to firewall (although as a developer, this shouldn't make a difference in the repeated refreshes that are happening to explorer.

    Still occurs.

In the past when we have seen problem like that with flickering and seemingly slower results (not necessarily related to Excel being open but anything that takes up significant resources triggered it) an update of video card drivers was the most common fix.

I tried duplicating this myself and wasn't able to

Drivers are up to date. However, when looking at my drivers, I noticed I do use Live Mesh. It's an awesome product, but installs a video driver. Perhaps install this and try a repro?

In any case, I'll be moving to Win7 in a month or so, so it's not a huge issue, but I know I've complained about it before so trying to narrow the scope.
