HM2 not recognizing hero??

I just recently completed the "get it free" promotion on party poker. However i play on pokerstars for the most part, and when i try to use holdem manager with pokerstars, the hands are not registered, and then the HUD does not update. I don't know what's wrong, i am new to the software so it's probobly something very simple that i am missing. Can anyone help me out?? thanks so much!
