    Default SSD worth it?

Will I notice a performance difference when running HEM if I get a SSD with my computer? If so, what applications should reside on the SSD?

    Thanks.

Thanks. How about Quad Core vs Dual Core? Will there be a significant impact by upgrading to 16GB of RAM?

I am more of a software geek than I am a hardware nerd.

My old computer was a AMD 4200+ Dual Core (early dual core CPU), bought new in January of 2007 for $700. 2gb RAM and standard 7200rpm 250gb HD

I never had major performance issues playing up to 8 tables with HUD while multi-tasking. My best average bulk import speed was about 50 hands/second.

My new HP PC I bought 1 month ago for $1,000:

    Ci7 920 (8 core), 9gb RAM, 750gb HD (still just 7,200 rpm).

This new machine absolutely flies in comparison. HM opens 3 or 4 times faster than it used to. My average import speed now is about 100 h/s or higher. I am hoping it improves even more when I add a SSD for postgresql.

My Adobe Photoshop v7 used to take up to a minute or more to load and be usable (about 4,000 fonts to sort/filter). Version CS2 and CS3 were too laggy to use on my old PC. Version CS3 loads on my new machine in well under 5 seconds.
