exporting hand histories to other drive

Hi

My computer is currently set up into a few different partitions. XP has one with 15 gigs of space, and a media drive with ~120 gigs. My hem database is on the 'media' drive and is something like 8 gigs large. My 'XP' drive has only about 3.5 gigs free.

I would like to export my hand histories to file and transfer them to my desktop. However, I don't have enough space on my xp drive to do this. Can I export hand histories directly to my media drive (or an external hd?)

No. What you can do is reinstall HM (not postgresql) to your media drive. Then you can do the export and it will defult to the installed drive (which will now be the media drive instead of your XP drive).



Before you uninstall HM:

You want to make sure you backup your Processed/Archived hand histories, your entire \config folder, and your exportednotes file. http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/?f=119. I usually just copy my entire \Holdem Manager directory and paste it there or elsewhere, before I do the actual uninstall.


1) Make a backup of your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder, and any other important files mentioned earlier.
2) Uninstall HM with www.revouninstaller.com using the Deep setting.
3) If given the option, on the 2 following screens of Revo, choose the Select All > Delete buttons to remove any registry entries and leftover files. (make sure you got your copy saved )
4) Reboot your computer

Now make sure you manually change the installation path to your media drive for the install and update. You will also have to manually change the path when doing future updates of HM (til Roy and I have time to make the update installer auto-detect non-default install paths).

5) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloa...demmanager.zip
6) Download the latest patch HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmBetaUpdate.exe
7) Test if it for a while and see if it work
8) Close down Holdem Manager and rename the current, working \config folder to \config_original. Now copy your \config folder from step 1 and paste it to your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\ fodler, to replace the one you just renamed.
9) Test if it works again for a while
10) If your old config folder causes problems, you can paste the contents of the \config_original folder back in.
11) Now you can import any notes and hud configs.

Hey Fozzy

Thanks for the quick response. I've been busy and only got around to following your instructions tonight. I uninstalled/ did the reboot and reinstalled hem.

Now when i started HEM it asked to look for my databases- in the window it says

server name 127.0.0.1, port number 5432, login name, postgres, and password postgrespass

when i click connect it says my user/pword combo is incorrect and asks if i want hem to configure the database to accept this login/pword. I click okay but then i get a window saying hem wasn't able to make this change.

I'm a bit confused on what to do here- i am pretty sure i left the login/pword as default before and didn't change anything- any advice?

ps. If i just copied my entire "postgresql" folder onto another computer with hem that runs would it recognize the database/ be able to read the hands?

No it wouldnt. You need to follow this FAQ http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm...aspx?faqid=101 or backup the database, reinstall postgres on the new partition and restore the backup.
