Default Full Tilt new tables freezing problem

Hello. I have a new table freezing problem that just began today. I play 6-16 $1/2 NLHE tables at one time with Holdem Manager running. I'm not sure if the problem is with the Full Tilt software, Holdem Manager, or my computer. If the problem is my computer, I would've thought this particular freezing issue would've already occurred weeks ago.

The freezing occurs when I sit down at a new table and then change my mind and try to "stand up", or I try to get up or top up my stack at a table I've been at for a while. The table will freeze and I cannot do anything. I can't even close the table. A "dinging" sound is all that happens when I click the left mouse button. This has happened quite often after I've posted the big blind, called a raise or raised/re-raised myself, and then tried to top up before the next hand. The table freezes, and if I am in a hand I will time out and then be sitting out.

This freezing problem only seems to be happening one table at a time, and I am still able to play at other tables that are not frozen. However, since I cannot close the frozen tables, I can't open new ones if I already have the max number of tables open that FT will allow. I can, however, close HEM and then close Full Tilt and then the frozen tables will close. But, what I have been doing, just so I can stay at the same tables, is pull the power cord and disconnect the battery from my laptop and reboot.

Not sure if anyone else is having this same problem. I have un-installed and re-installed the Full Tilt software, and downloaded the latest HEM 1.09 beta 29, and neither one fixed the problem. Not sure what, if anything else, I can do.

    Thank you.

Haven't heard of this before so i can only suggest the standard things:

    Beta 30 is out.

Under Vista make sure UAC is disabled http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm....aspx?faqid=73
and/or holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory.
Right click the holdemmanager.exe and the hmhud.exe executable and select "Run as admin" from the popup menu.

Try with firewall / security / spyware software disabled.

I'll try Beta 30. I forgot to mention, I have Windows XP. So, should I make an exception in the Firewall for Full Tilt Poker and also for HMHud.exe and HoldemManager.exe (both found in C:>Program Files>RVG Software>HoldemManager)?

    Thank you.

Yes, you should set exceptions according to this FAQ, even if the windows firewall is turned off.

So, I upgraded to Beta 30, made exceptions in my Firewall according to the link above and then turned the Firewall OFF, un-installed and re-installed Full Tilt Poker according to an email their tech support sent me, and I am still having the same freezing problem I stated above.

The only other thing I think I can try is turning my Symantec Antivirus OFF. I don't know how to do this though without un-installing the program. Is it possible to just turn it off?

I think it's time for a new computer.

    Thanks.

Please try installing this HUD build to replace the beta 30 hud. Please let us know it it helps or not.

If it is still crashing with that HUD file, try to revert all the way back to beta 29 and see if that helps.

    Fozzy,

I tried both the beta 30 and 29 as you suggested, and I'm still having the same freezing problem. The freezing doesn't happen on every table. It happens on individual tables, and I'm not sure what's causing the problem. What I've been doing is first turning off Windows Firewall. Then, I open HEM and Full Tilt. I start Auto Import in HEM. Then, I open the max number of tables (18) Full Tilt will allow. If I'm already sitting at or get placed at a table I'm waitlisted on, I wait to play until the HUD appears on all of the tables. It takes a while, but it seems if I start playing before all the HUDs appear there is an increased chance of freezing/lagging.

The problem I will have though is that I will sit down, evaluate the table, and then if I decide to "stand up" and go to hit that button or the close table "x" button, the table freezes and I can't even close unless I close Full Tilt or pull the power cord and battery from my laptop. The problem also happens after I post the big blind then try to check the "Auto Post Blinds" box. The table freezes and I can't even play the first hand as the big blind.

So, what should I do? Should I just download the latest beta version from now on? I don't know if the problem is my old computer or HEM, or a combination of both. I don't think the problem is the Full Tilt software (which I've un-installed and re-installed).

    Thanks.

I have forwarded this thread to the hud developer for a reply.

if you havent yet, please update your video card drivers.

Make sure you have the HUD Options > Player Preferences > Multiple Panels off for all your HUD configs, and turn all of the Card Opacities up to 100%.

Try turning your FTP HUD Pre-fetch down to 1 hand. If it still happens, try turning pre-fetch off completely for a session and try to reproduce the issue when you get the HUD open on 18 tables, with out pre-fetching them.

How exactly do I do this? Can this update usually be done for free through a website or through Dell?

Ok, I'll try Pre-fetch at 1 hand, and then zero if the freezing still happens.

I played a session today on Full Tilt with NO freezing. I used HEM Beta 29 with Pre-fetch set to 5 hands. I also left Windows Firewall ON.

I think the big thing is that I wait to start playing until the HUD has appeared at all of the tables I have open. I can also close tables on which I am waitlisted as long as the HUD has appeared. Then, when I am placed in a seat at the table the table will pop back up and the HUD will be there with no major problems.

Also, if I am able to stand up and leave a table and then open a new table after I have already started playing at some tables, there is a noticeable lag. I wait until this newly opened table's HUD appears before I open another new table, because my whole computer may freeze.

Beta 31 should be available soon. You can try the new HUD build if you would like to, right now.

Please try this new HUD build. Download, unzip, and copy/paste teh contents to overwrite your \holdem manager\hmhud.exe file.
