Free HM through Stars Sign-Up?

I opened an account at Stars a week or so ago. I didn't use any kind of referral code when I signed up, and haven't funded it.

I wrote Stars to see if I could get the free Hold'em Manager with a sign-up through ya'll, and they wrote this back:

So do how does it work? Can I get my HM by using you guys as a reference when I make my first deposit? Or am I screwed because I didn't know about the bonus when I opened my Stars account?

Again, I have yet to fund the Stars account--I hope that means it's still considered as to-be-acquired.
