Backup database

What is the proper way to backup the database?

Anything special to be done or can it just be simply copied to another location?

I looked in the manual and saw instructions for exporting hands but nothing about backing up the database itself ... perhaps I missed it.

Don't just copy the folder, thats only for experts.
