Currently no, you can not run HM2 on ubuntu. The main reason is because you can not run .Net or PostgreSQL on that system.

There are native versions of PostgreSQL for Linux. However windows based applications like HM2 and dot Net framework will not run on Linux but can run in a windows virtual machine on a Linux host. There are threads on the forum about this.

Yeah, PostgreSQL ran on Linux long before it ran on Windows.

As mentioned, people do have success playing on a Windows VM running on Linux, but given the resource requirements of HM2 especially when multi-tabling, you'll need a very beefy system to pull it off.

Noob question: if the problem is only .net framework, can't you install it on ubuntu and run hem without virtual box?
I'm very interested in this question cause I actually use windows only to run HEM on stars.

HEM and (I believe) most of the poker clients are coded for a Windows environment which is more than just a .net framework. Therefore a Windows VM or Wine would still be a requirement if you want to have Linux involved.

Yes, I have WINE and PlayOnLinux, but not Virtual Box, 'cause I don't have a Windows CD with a key and 'cause it stress a lot computer resources.
