Default need help buying laptop for mass tabling

I just bought a 2.1 dual core gateway with 7200 rpm hd and HM still lags a little bit when 24 tabling. I really need to know how powerful of a laptop i need to get for zero lag. Is it just the hd that's causing me problems? Do I need a solid state drive or just a faster processer?

    Which gametype?
    Which HM Version?

In general: the faster the better

Problem is with Pokerstars. I just bought my gateway p-7801u laptop and started to lag. I made the adjustments in your "better performance" tips but did not help. Should I be looking at just getting a faster cpu or would adding a SSD and putting just HM on it solve it? Also running latest version of HM

I used to play play with laptop as well and suffered a lot.

My advise to you my friend is to buy at least quad core (core i7, if not than go for Core2Quad 9550 and up ) with loads of RAM (at least 4GB) and the most important thing is the hard drives - I use 2 500 GB HDs 7200 rpm 32 mb buffer with Raid 0.

My machine is flying and i use the following simultaneously :

    24 tables on PS
HM on auto import with HUD and 15 stats on each table
Table ninja the scrap the screen like every mili second
    Messenger
Firefox opened with loads of tabs
    Utorrent opened and downloading

And in addition I display PES 2009 on the other screen for my little cousin

You cant do it with a laptop...

Ya, I understand desktops are ideal for my setup but traveling limits me to a laptop. I'd be happy with just running the poker software and not a bunch of other things if i could just get zero lag from HM. How about a 2.6cpu-6mb cache and a 7200 hd? I'm thinking about a dell studio 15 maxed out.

Well mate, you said that you will be always limited to your travels, well with a laptop you will be limited to the number of tables you can run at the same time I guess.

well, I've read numerous people's posts about them running 24 tables with HM on their laptops with no lag so I know it's possible. I just don't know what the right setup would be

A 7200+ RPM drive would be the first step to reducing the lag. SSD would be ideal. I am planning a SSD for my OS and SSD for PostgreSQl in my next PC.

Alright. I'm looking at a dell studio 15 with 2.6 dual core T9550 cpu and 7200rpm hard drive. Would this be fast enough to at least handle HM with no lag?

My current desktop I bought from Circuit City in January of 2007. It is a Gateway GT5228. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Dual Core, 2GB RAM.

I only play 4 tables these days, when I play, but I have played 8 tables numerous times, and have played some sessions of full ring where I tried to 24 table. I think I gave up at the 12 - 16 table range, cuz I couldn't keep up. HM didn't have any issues IIRC.

My next PC this fall, will be significantly more powerful.
