Error initializing importer: There are no more files

I get this error after initial install, and every startup thereafter. Before I can do anything.

Trying to "Import File(s)" does nothing with no error message.
Trying to "Import from folder" does nothing with no error message.
Setting up auto import for Full Tilt and Pokerstars and starting "Start Auto Import" does nothing with no error message.

This is on Vista, with a Trial user license.

Same effect with 1.08.04 and 1.09 Beta 7

For Vista:

make sure that holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator
