ssd is recomended for importing large batches of files but what about for just playing and auto import? will i see a difference still? or does it not matter if im just auto importing?

no difference then. but working with a base will be faster anyway.

I stumbled upon the OCZ RevoDrive x2 and the numbers are sick. Problem is, I have no clue how it translates to a database. I have the Vertex 2 right now and considering upgrading to the Vertex 3... should I be giving a serious look at this SSD instead?

What should my main focus be when looking at the tests (4k random read/write, i/O)?

Also, wtf is i/o, I googled it and it made no sense....

I wouldn't overclock my CPU, if it's already a fast CPU.
Harddisk will be the most likely bottleneck of any computer.
But if you have a fast SSD, it would never hurt performance to overclock CPU and RAM.

However more useful would be to make sure NO PROGRAM is monitoring:
your SQL folder, your SQL server connection (port 5432) and HoldemManager/HMHud.exe.

These programs include: anti-virus, Windows firewall, Windows Defender, 3rd party firewall, etc. If any such program doesn't give you the option to easily add exceptions uninstall it completely.

And edit postgresql.conf + turn off logging.

Could you expand on the monitoring part... I'm using ZoneAlarm and Avast... how do I check if it is and then how do stop it from doing that... thanks.

I have been following the REVO for some time. The other version PCIE you should look at is the IBIS. I want to buy at least a 240 so I have been a little hesitant. Like $600. IBIS supposedly can integrate up to 6 logical drives through a single PCIE card.

Look it up on OCZ.com. Look at the HSDL interface. Much higher throughput than SAT2 or even 3.
