    Run crystaldiskmark, with a 1 GB test file size to see if you get closer to 560 MB/s read speed, and which 4k read speed you get.
    Does your motherboard support sata3 (sata600) or only sata2 (sata300)?

    Even for SATA 2 your read- and write-performance is too low. Had on on my old motherboard also SATA 2 and got about 250 MB/s in seq. read. Random read/write seems ok to me .... but i don't remember exact numbers. If i would be you i would go for a new motherboard for about 100 $/€ you can get something solid with SATA3.

    @Patvs

    I have upgraded my setup step by step so far. Last thing remaining is the RAM:

    AMD FX 6300
    2x Samsung 840 pro SSDs
    8 GB RAM Corsair DDR 1333

    Would i get a noticeable improvement in performance if i would buy me RAM with 1866 MHz or is it not worth the money?

    What hand importing speed I can expect if I change my motherboard? After edited postgresql.config importing speed increased up to 350h/s

    Hard to say....depends also from the rest of your hardware. I get up to 430h/s with my setup.

    @flippant: your Sequential Read : 120.305 MB/s with SATA2 could be too low. Though I'm not sure, maybe this drive just has this performance on a SATA2 motherboard. Check if there is a firmware / driver update for the drive. Or a BIOS setting you can tweak for the drive.

    If you'd get a new motherboard (unlocking its SATA3 capabilities), it wouldn't really improve your import speeds.
    Import speeds mostly rely on 4k read speeds, and those speeds would be the same.
    350 h/s is a pretty OK import speed.

    The only noticeable improvement you'd see with a SATA3 compatible motherboard, is for example when you UNRAR a 4 GB compressed bluray rip movie. Which would unrar with ~400+ MB/s instead of 100 MB/s.

    Does Sata2 not also reduce the IOPS (which affects the import speed) compared to Sata 3?!

    @karstenkloss: RAM, if you're not going to overclock your system it's not worth it. The 'faster' DDR3-1866, will perform 5% slower (!) up to 5% faster, depending on its CAS latency performance. The only advantage of for example DDR3-2400 RAM is, it will overclock better.

    Yesterday after editing postgresql.config I was happy with my hands importing speed it was up to 350h/s but today imporing speed is the same as was (up to 240-260h/s).
