Change HM to UK Date Format?

Is there any way I can change HM to show the date in UK format , i.e 30.07.11 instead of the US way of 07.30.11
as it confuses the hell out of me?

No, that's not possible.
set the date formatting of your computer to M/d/yyyy (and not to European default d/M/yyyy) with regional settings English (United States)
