OK, I disabled aero and it didn't work for me either, so I have the same situation as PunkAss.

Quote from customers feedback:
You don't need to change theme manually at all. It's enough if you check the
"Disable desktop composition" -box in compatibility settings for HEM2 shortcut.
Please check this step and reply how it works. If it works, this would make my weekend!
Also try unchecking manual z-ordering in hud options-config. If it's unchecked, try checking it.
Sorry I can't make your weekend- neither one helped for me.

OK, it seems my problem is related to my Logitech mouse software or Microsoft IntelliType, but I think it is the Logitech software. The Logitech Setpoint software crashed, and I noticed that I didn't have the white overlay any more, so I uninstalled it and don't have the problem now.
Michael
Try allowing setpoint and holdemmanager.exe and hudfuncapps.exe in your firewall settings.
I downloaded the latest version of Setpoint and installed it, but I am not having the white overlay problem now.

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say that i had the same problem with the white overlay. I fixed it by uninstalling Logitech SetPoint.
Logitech setpoint is the #1 cause of this issue.
