I've had some trouble getting holdem manager to work on my friend's computer. I currently have it installed on both of my computers (one XP and one Vista), and it works fine. I yesterday purchased another license for the purpose of installing it on her machine, and I can't get it to launch.

She's running Vista, and has her administrator account password-protected. (I use the computer under a guest account.) I arranged for her to turn off user access control, and to install the holdem manager software and the PostgreSQL database, which all went smoothly. Yet, when I double-click on the Hold Em Manager shortcut, nothing happens. When I try to start the app from the actual program file directory, I get the same result.

I went through the pocess of ensuring that the relevant apps are set to run as administrator, and they are.

I then tried downloading the 1.8 update, as I thought it might have some effect on the problem - but I get the following error message: "Package runtime error, please contact the support: Reference: 661."

Can you provide any assistance?

Thanks much,

Further to my prior post...

I'm able to run HoldEm Manager from my friend's administrator account. However, when I try to start the program from the guest account, I get the following error message:

"An error occurred while reading the config//HoldemManager.config file: Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config\HoldemManager.Config' is denied. Holdem Manager will now backup the old config file and create a new one for you."

I then hit "OK", and got the following message:

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quite, the application will close immediately. Access to the path is denied."

Clicking continue results in an attempt to initialize the database, but the process ultimately fails.

When I click the "Details" button in the second error message field, I get the following information:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

This is most likely due to trying to run it from a guest account, get them to setup another account and give you admin priveledges
