it sounds like your trial version has expired since it would not normally ask for a serial number.
A trial could expire for a bunch of reasons such as:
* You already installed Holdem Manager before and tried it out
* Your system clock changed during the trial
* Your computer hardware changed during the trial
Email sales@holdemmanager.com to request a temporary serial

You can't connect to postgresql?
Make sure the secondary login is running: The secondary logon service is a standard windows service which is available on every windows computer. In the latest versions it is not started automatically. You need to start it via control panel > administrative tools > services. Starting it once should insure it works in the future also.

Do you get an error when you press CONNECT?
If you get a 127.0.0.1 can't connect error:
This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.
First try to reboot.
If no help, try this:
Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service
Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service
If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it. And reboot.
If that doesn't help you will have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely

Reinstall PostgreSQL with the 8.4.4 installer from PostgreSQL: The world's most advanced open source database (http://www.postgresql.org)
Which error do you get during the PostgreSQL install?

Try installing a different version of PostgreSQL to a different port. And post here which error you get during the installation.
