Hi,

A Windows 7 update is causing Holdem Manager to stop working.

Windows 7 users with crash/errors please download this version for the fix: Windows 7 Solution (http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/Hm_1.11.07.exe)

Thanks

I've downloaded and installed the Windows 7 only fix after the windows updates crashed my HM.

Now when I start holdem manager it stops on that "initializing database" screen it says that could take a while if my database is too large. I have kind of 5 million hands and it takes so longs that the program stops responding. It doesn't work.

I've tried restart the program some times, tried rebooting my PC.

What can I do now?

Patvs

Ignore the not responding error.
Just wait until it finishes with the database update and it unfreezes.

Could take 30-40 minutes if you have a 5 million hand database.
Also make sure you have at least 7 GB of free disk space.

cassiopak

I just ignored the not responding message and after about 50 minutes it showed this message:

An error occurred while updating your DB (CompiledPlayerResults Phase 2): A timeout has occured. If you were establishing a connection, increase Timeout value in ConnectionString. If you were executing a command, increate the CommandTimeout value in ConnectionString or in your NpgsqlCommand object.
Please cloe down any programs accessing the database and relaunch Holdem Manager.

I'll try it again.

Thanks for the link to that fix, the replayer still has issues though. It will load the first time but if I close it, it won't open again unless I restart holdem manger. Not a massive issue as you can leave the window open and load new hands.

The new version has corrected the mistake of starting the HM but now I can not see the replay of hands. I click twice to open his hands so I can see the replay but nothing happens. HELP:(

Replayer issue will be fixed in 1.11.07a.
If you really need the replayer uninstall the Windows Security updates again.

So am I right in thinking that we can reinstall the Windows Updates now we have this fix?

Patvs

Yes.... though, there still is an issue with the replayer.
Which will be fixed as soon as possible.

But if you're not planning to replay session, and just want to play poker + import hands + live HUDs, you can update to http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate.exe and install all the Windows Security updates.

Replayer still doesn't work... with this update if I launch replayer one time for one or more hands togheter, it works; if I launch replayer a second time, it doasn't work. I had to stop and restart hem.
Do you have any solution?

I also had the WIN7 issue (SNG wiz icon in middle of screen then a crash when I click any buttons on left menu). I installed the fix patch and now it seems to rebuilding my database, for a long time. Is this what its supposed to do?

Run dbcontrolpanel.exe from the HoldemManager folder, and create a new database.

If you can run the program, reimport your hands into this new database.

Hello.
Thank you very much for the fixed problem for W7 update. I'd just like to know whether you will notice on this thread when you get the replayer working perfectly. I mean, you can reopen it. I have the 1.11.07 version, and I have been looking for this threads and didnt find any notice the version 1.11.07a solved the problem.
Also another side question. Will 1.11.07a version take another hour to update database if I have already updated to 1.11.07?
Thank you very much.

Patvs
07-16-2011, 10:04 AM
1.11.07a won't update the database again.
It will fix the replayer bug!

Hi, I installed the windows 7 fix and HM started workin again, but not the HUD.
I play on PartyPoker.it and before the Win7 updates everything was working fine but now altough the Win7 fix the HUD doesn't work. Table manager doesn't recognise tables, they simply don't appear in the table manager window. Any suggestion?

Patvs
07-16-2011, 10:33 AM
Change the PartyPoker.it lobby language to English (reinstall Party in English)

TableManager 1.11.07 should then detect the tables.
Also try to use the TableFinder: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/60/ConfiguringTableFinderToShowHUD

eliagiano

Thank you for the quick answer! The PartyPoker software was already in English lenguage. Today I played a few tables to test the Win7 fix, I noticed that HH are imported correctly and I can see the results in the tourney window. The problem is that i can't use TableFinder because the list of tables that i should attach is empty. It seems like table manager doesn't notice that there are opened tables. I tried with table finder but it display an error "i can not find any unattached hand, please wait until manager has imported some. Thats strange 'cause the importing seems to work correctly.

Create a new database: Options--> Database Management--> Connect--> Create New Database--> (set it as default)--> Start HoldemManager

Can you attach your holdemmanager.config file?

You're playing on a real-money table?
Can you post a screenshot of a PartyPoker table + TableManager?

I meant " Failed to establish a connection to 127.0.0.1" problem. I erased those 4 update files, I downloaded newest version 1.11.07a, still not working. Then I updated those Windows files back - of course no help. Can U please help me out?

Patvs

This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

First try to reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it. And reboot.

If that doesn't help you will have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely

During the installation of the update, manually select the install folder, and select the folder you actually have HoldemManager installed.

So i think i'm running the latest HM (1.11.07), it seems to be working fine. The only problem is that the "Fold To 4bet" Stat doesnt work on my HUD now? It just says "doh"

Any idea why this would be the only number that doesnt seem to work on my HUD?

i'm running 06g

- i asume the newest release has this issue fixed and windows updates can be installed already ?
- do i need a new database for 07a or only if i want to make use of the new hud stats?
- will a freshly purged/vacuumed databse take long to start if it is really huge (half a million players) after updating?

thanks

Please update to the latest version - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate.exe
And you can install ALL Windows Updates

The database update can take some time. If it's states "not responding" just ignore it until it unfreezes.

You should wait until 1.12 is released until you reimport all your hands into a new database.

Solutions:
1. Reboot your computer
2. If that doesn't help look for the hidden system file postmaster.pid in the postgresql data folder, delete it and reboot your computer again.
3. Check the postgresql service in the windows services (control panel->administration). Sometimes it helps to change the Logon As.. to "local system account"
4. Check our FAQ:

I have multiple HEM failures since I reinstalled HEM (using your latest combo installer) on my new PC with Windows 7 recently.
- session winnings are wrong
- all-in ev is completely messed up
- only about every second hand is imported correctly. I know I have played ~33k hands this month but HEM shows only 16.8k.

Have a look:
http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/7367/monthi.jpg

http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/5573/yearb.jpg

Same failure as well at the reports tab, also shows way too few hands and all-in ev of 11.4k for this month.
So obv. HEM does not import a ton of hands. And a lot of the hands it does import get fucked up in some way.
Will the fix in this thread help me?

Patvs
08-09-2011, 12:03 PM
Create a new database: Options--> Database Management--> Connect--> Create New Database--> (set it as default)--> Start HoldemManager

and reimport your archive folder, C:/HMArchive.

Also clear filters (even though it appears no filters are selected)

MartinM83
08-09-2011, 12:20 PM
My archive is ~5 GB big and has ~6 million hands in ~100,000 files.
It's basically impossible to reimport that because it would take like 2 weeks, even though I have a fast HDD.
Other suggestions?

Would be okay if there was a way to make HEM import correctly from now on.
I would purge the corrupted hands from this month and should be fine then.

Patvs
08-09-2011, 07:48 PM
Try options--> settings--> purge hands-->
purge this month's hands.

Then reimport them.

MartinM83
08-10-2011, 12:52 AM
Have purged all hands from July and August and afterwards reimported them from the archive. Seemed to work at first sight, however, now the graphs and the reports tabs show no hands at all for July and August! I tried to import the hands a second time and HEM did look normal again while importing, not alerting of any dublicate hands. But again no hands made it to the reports or graphs tab.

After this I played 3,783 hands (at Stars).
Now HEM shows 1,972 hands played at the graphs tab and 2,205 hands played at the reports tab.
Wtf??
Don't have the slightest clue what the hell is going wrong.
I'm using HEM since 2007 and have never had problems like this.

Patvs
08-10-2011, 02:36 AM
It looks at all the signs of a corrupt database.

Create a new database: Options--> Database Management--> Connect--> Create New Database--> (set it as default)--> Start HoldemManager

and reimport your archive folder, C:/HMArchive.

--

When you're finished reimporting the hands. Create a backup of the database in pgadminIII: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/72/Backup%26RestoreDatabase

Restoring a backup of a 5 million hand database will only take you an hour.

MartinM83
08-16-2011, 12:28 AM
Okay, works again now. Database had obv. indeed been corrupted, thanks for the hint.
Also made a backup using the HEM backup and restore function,
hope this is as good as the postgresql backup via pgadminIII.
Backup and restore function worked for the first time I tried it (out of ~15 times),
seems like you fixed that recently, also thank you for that.

Did the most recent updates cause problems?

I have recently reformatted my desktop and laptop with Win7 in the past few days.

I had HEM 1.12.05 running with PGSQL 8.4 just fine. I then updated all the most recent updates of Win7, and Postgres stopped working, although Im not sure if this is the direct cause.

It was working however, and I managed to import and merge about 8 of my old databases into one collosal 35GB one, and the data folder is still stored on a seperate drive.

Thus far have tried:

-Uninstalling and reinstalling Postgress
-Deleting all data folders in program files
-Deleting user accounts
-Deleting user folders
-Deleting registry keys in regedit for Postgres

-Disabling UAC
-Disabling DEP
-Disabling Windows Defender
-Disabling Windows Antivirus from Security Essentials
-Disabling Windows update

-Editing the hosts file

Both computers are unable to install and get Postgres working. I have tried installing MANY times!

Neither of them have been successful to get it working. The Postgres will just not install properly and the service will not start.

Today I tried buying HEM2 to see if that worked. Have tried installing with HEM2 installer also will not work.

They tried installing it with the Postgres install file directly from the Postgres website and this also did not work.

They tried doing everything in your FAQs and also on some Postgres forums and no luck so far.

The desktop is the one which is most important and as I can't get this working I'm unable to play poker for the moment.

Two computer experts have taken a serious crack at it and no fix yet...

Patvs
11-05-2011, 02:48 AM
Try installing SQL 8.2 to port 5433: PostgreSQL: Choose a Mirror (http://wwwmaster.postgresql.org/download/mirrors-ftp/binary/v8.2.21/win32/postgresql-8.2.21-1.zip)

Read: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/70/ReinstallPostgreSQL
Then reimport your hands into a NEW database.

--

To fix the 8.4 connection:

try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it. And reboot.

--

Recent Windows Updates, didn't cause any issues with PostgreSQL.
It caused a graphic glitch with HoldemManager but that has already been fixed.

Your screenshots are not working.

Here is a general replayer help:
* The replayer is not working with the Comodo firewall. You need to uninstall it.
If thats not the reason please try the following:.
1. close HM
2. create a backup copy of the file config\holdemmanager.config
3. open the original file in a texteditor like notepad
4. delete the 2 lines with the following settings:
setting name="ReplayerSettings" ...
and
setting name="ReplayerSkinToUse....
5. save and exit
6. restart HM. The lines in the config file will be recreated.
7. check the subfolder replayer skin\default skin of your holdemmanager installation path (default c:\program files(X86)\rvg software\holdemmanager. Does this folder exist and contain files? If not please come back, we need to send you the files.
8. Test the replayer again. If it still doesn't work you need to reinstall HM with a fresh configuration.
