Firstly I just want to say thanks for the team and the level of support that they provide for HEM. The speed and resources that are provided is really quite exceptional, in my opinion, for such a relatively inexpensive software product.

I have a ongoing problem for the last month or so with PokerPlex24 (IPoker) it may just be a problem with their software that my old laptop can't cope with (Vista 3gb Intel Core Duo T7300 2.00ghz).

I have tried nearly all the recommend tips to improve performance but it doesn't seem to affect this issue.

I multi site, multitable and in the last month Pokerplex24 will nearly freeze the computer when I have HEM running. This is not a problem I have when multisiteing without Pokerplex. It starts off okay but maybe after 30 minutes with multisiting and tables problems can occur. Processor usage will be up to 100% and Pokerplex with be occuping maybe 25% to 47% of the processor. If I kill the HUD in processes it will usually solve the problem temporarily. If I kill Pokerplex24 in processes it will solve the problem (the other sites party, boss and pacific will work okay then). I will normally log on again and it will work okay for a period. If I sit out of my Pokerplex24 tables and minimise them it sometimes solves it, sometimes doesn't. I could have 3 Pokerplex tables open and the get the problem but sometimes just happens after reducing to just 1 Pokerplex table.

Before I start playing poker I kill as many process as I can such as audio etc.. as they can be occupying a lot of processor time when a slow down occurs.

I have the latest updates, bought memory, turned off logs, maintained my dbs, defraged etc... I would like to reinstall pokerplex24 to my external drive but there is no option.

As I said maybe it is just buggy pokerplex software.

Things I haven't tried yet are using a different ipoker skin and moving all of my hem, postgresql to my external harddrive.

Any ideas?

Cheers

It sounds like a PokerPlex issue.
In Windows Task Manager, besides the 47% CPU activity, does PokerPlex have a lot or RAM usage? (memory leak)
How much RAM is being used in total?

Did you update Vista to Service Pack 2?
Run a manual Windows Update and install ALL updates, including Internet Explorer 9 and every .net framework update.

Which Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?
Did you manually add the main pokerplex .exe file to the firewall exceptions?

Which PostgreSQL version are you using?

It starts off at about 130mb and can go up to 350mb. I don't seem to use more than about 2.1gb of the 3gb.

Everything is up to date.

I am using Comodo security centre firewall and SuperantiSpyware (just for scheduled virus scanning). Casino.exe is an exception.

Which PostgreSQL version are you using?

I am using 8.4

Uninstall Comodo completely.

Uninstalled Comodo (now no firewall at all!) seems slightly faster but eventually it slowed down again - same High Pokerplex processor usage.

I'll try a different skin and see if that helps.

Turn on Windows Firewall.
And add exceptions to holdemmanager.exe, hmhud.exe, and the main pokerplex.exe to the Windows Firewall.

I'm fairly certain it's an Ipoker software problem. I have a brand new laptop and am having similar issues.

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate.exe

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall for holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe, even if the firewall is turned off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily.

Make sure your video card drivers and windows auto updates are fully updated. Make sure you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (or later for w7) installed./

How much CPU activity is there in TaskManager running HoldemManager when playing?
Is HoldemManager using up most of the CPU%?
