View Full Version : Cannot fix my host file.

i followed these instructions, http://holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8182

but when i try to save the file it says 'access to C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts was denied'

any ideas why?

im running windows vista

First open notepad as an administrator by right-clicking on it in the programs list and selecting "run as administrator". The File>open and edit the hosts file, it'll let you save it then. If it still won't let you, right click on the hosts file, go to properties and untick read-only.

You should also disable UAC as its likely to cause alot of problems http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73 and this will allow you to edit the file without problems

oh k, ive left my holdem manger for 2 months, before the 2 months it had been working just fine, untill windows updated automatically gave me problems about connecting to postgress. whats the first step i should take?

Did you follow the original instructions and disable UAC and fix the hosts file, did that work?

I didnt get any email with the ID and password?
