HoldemManager will check the license once a month. When this happens you need a internet connection.
When the serial has been validated, you can use HoldemManager offline, even when you're not connected to the internet.

If it will check for a internet connection EVERY TIME you start the program, something is wrong:

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

Please update to the latest beta - http://forums.holdemmanager.com/releases/82571-1-11-07-pre-release.html

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall for those files, even if the firewall is turned off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily.

(Make sure the proxy settings are turned off)

The holdemManager check the license every time i start the program. I don't know what's wrong. I use XP operating system, I don't use firewall and anti-virus.

Run a manual Windows Update.
Install ALL updates. (from service pack 3, to all .net framework updates, and internet explorer updates)

Turn on Windows Firewall. Add holdemmanager.exe, hmhud.exe to its exceptions list.

I used to have exactly the same problem, your teamviewer support guy could not help me about this.
I enabled ACHI mode in BIOS settings, then it workds, but 2 months later, the problem is back recent days.

I can not understand, it this a problem so hard for your tech team to resolve ?
Get a little bit angry about this.

If IDE--> AHCI mode fixed it for you, its likely an administrator issue.
When you're offline, HoldemManager checks
C:\ProgramData\XHEO INC\SharedLicenses\HoldemManager.lic
This is a hidden SYSTEM file. (not just a regular hidden file)

If your computer can't find.. or can't read/access the file, it will look for you license online.

Turn off the "Read-only" attribute for the ProgramData and Program Files folders.

I can see the C:\ProgramData\XHEO INC\SharedLicenses\HoldemManager.lic file.
If I delete this file , then activate HM online, it will automatically create this HoldemManager.lic, so I think it should read this file as well.

I use windows 7, NOD32 anti-virus ,
UAC is off.
I don't know how to turn off the "read-only" attribute for those folders. I can create or delete file in those folders, but when I right click, uncheck the "read-only" checkbox, click ok, another windows pops up , I could only choose to apply to the subfolders and files, can not apply on this folder it self.
