Out of the blue I can't open my HEM and get the following message:

An error occurred while reading the config//HoldemManager.config file: Root element is missing.
Holdem Manager will now backup the old config file and create a new one for you.

I hit ok...and it just freezes

Thanks!

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

Please update to the latest beta - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate.exe

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Turn off User Account Control: How to Disable and Turn Off UAC in Windows 7 « My Digital Life (http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/12/30/how-to-disable-and-turn-off-uac-in-windows-7/)

Add exceptions to the windows firewall for those files, even if the firewall is turned off.

---

Is that doesn't resolve it. Delete the HoldemManager/Config/HoldemManager.config file and restart HoldemManager.

Delete the HoldemManager/Config/HoldemManager.config file and restart HoldemManager.

And run a manual Windows Update (XP must be updated to Service Pack 3 and have ALL .net framework updates installed)
