I'm running HM v 1.08 beta 16 on Vista (as admin) and running PostgreSQL 8.2.

I have what I would consider a fairly large DB and wanted to delete some older hands to free up disc space.

I went in to the "Options" tab and clicked "Purge Hands". I then set the filter to delete all hands from all limits (I checked every limit option) prior to a date 6 months ago. I also set it to "Do not delete hands played by:" (and entered my Alias which includes my screen names from two sites.

Everything looked like the purge processed fine as it took several hours to complete. I also did the "Vacuum" after it completed the purge which also took several hours to complete, but appeared to finished without any errors.

But I still have the hands in my DB and can still access any of these old Hands that should have been purged. I can view them in the cash games tab and even replay these hands in the replayer.

Prior to the purge I checked a few things to compare with after the purge completed. Here's prior to the purge:
* 151542 players in my cash games tab
* 166GB free of 288GB on "C" Drive
* The PostgreSQL folder in my Program Files was 34.4GB's
* RVG Software folder in my Program Files was 67.7 MB's

And here were the results directly after the purge:
* The same 151542 players in my cash games tab
* 155GB free of 288GB on "C" Drive (so I actually lost 11GB's of free space on my C Drive
* The PostgreSQL folder in my program files is now 28.9GB's (this is the only one that decreased)
* RVG Software folder in my Program Files is now 78.7 MB's (grew by 11MB's)

Any idea what happened here?

How can I delete all hands (excluding mine) prior to 6 months ago?

Thanks.

And the hands you can replay are hands where you are not involved?

Actually, no. After looking at things once again I noticed that the hands I replay prior to 6 months ago (the date I set to purge) are hands with me sitting at the table.

But I have actualy lost 11GB's of space on my C Drive and my HoldeManager folder grew by 11MB's when I checked things right after the purge and Vaccum process.

I assume because I have not gained any additional disc space (and actually lost 11GB's on my C drive) that this purge did not go through correctly.

What can I do to get things are cleaned up?

You trying to purge datamined hands, right?

I guess so. I'm trying to remove all hands prior to 6 months ago (excluding my hands). So I assume that means all hands where I was not seated at the table.

Try updating to this version http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Hm1.08Beta.exe and running the purge again. Are you sure you didnt use this option http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=107 instead of this one http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=152

I doubled checked, and this is in fact the way I performed the purge.

I just updated to the 1.08 beta 20 version as suggested and will try again.

Just completed the Purge and Vacuum process and I think it might have worked out this time.

I noticed about 7 GB's of free space now on my C drive after the purge.

I still can go to the Players tab and search for players that played a year ago (which is prior to the dates I set for the purge). I can get their stats from that tab even for players that haven't played in the last year.

But I tried to find a player that only played a few hands a year ago and then search for him the cash game tab to see which hands I still had on him. I was able to select that player as he still came up in the search, but I didn't have any hands listed for him in that tab. So it does appear the hands have been deleted.

I still see the players listed in the my DB, but the hands seems to be gone. Is this the way it is suppose to be after a complete purge (Options > Purge Hands)?

Yeah, this is because HM dosent recache yet, well be introducing this at a later stage though or if it really bothers you then you can export and reimport into a new database and theyll be gone, this may be of interest aswell http://www.holdemmanager.net/forum/showthread.php?p=32648#post32648

So just to be clear:

I have HHs from the past year. I purged the hands over 6 months old with the second option. All HHs are gone. The stats remain.

1) If I read your last reply correct, this is to be expected?
2) In my HUD what time period will the stats reflect?

Thx

1) Yeah if you use this option, the stats remain but the the HH details are no longer accessible http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=107

If you use this option the hands will be completely deleted when you run a report http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=152 however until the cache is updated the remain in the hud (as i mentioned we will be adding the option to cache for now youd need to reimport into a new database)
