This is what happens when I try to open Holdem Manager:

I haven't changed anything on Hold'em Manager. This error just decided to pop up randomly. Here is the rest of the "Details" section:

I have re-installed Microsoft .NET Framework as mentioned in a previous thread... still getting the error.

Please make a backup copy of your Holdemmanager installation and
uninstall HEM using Revo Uninstaller: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/126/Using+Revo+Uninstaller+

After completion please reboot your computer and download and install the full installer from our homepage. Please make sure that the postgresql option is disabled during the installation.

After successful installation run some tests with the fresh configuration. If thats ok you can restore the config subfolder with your old Hud etc.

Thanks for your reply. Is there a guide available on how to backup my HEM? I have a lot of customized settings I wish to keep.

Just copy the subfolders of Holdemmanager to another directory.

The same problem has come back two days later. HEM worked perfectly all session yesterday.

Any clues to what may be the root cause for this? It is annoying to constantly re-install HEM.

are you using any 3rd party firewall, anti-spyware, adaware, tuning or registry cleaning programs? and if yes which ones?

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?


For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Add exceptions to the windows firewall for those files, even if the firewall is turned off. If you have a 3rd party firewall, do the equivalent or uninstall it temporarily.




Run a manual Windows Update and install ALL updates.
If you have Windows 7 make sure it's updated to Service Pack 1.
For XP/Vista/7 make sure all Visual C++ and .net framework updates are installed.

Windows 7, no firewall, no anti virus, no registry cleaning programs and no anti-spyware. I only use this computer to play poker really.

The problem surfaces every time I reboot my computer and only when I reboot. Once I reinstall HEM, it works 100% fine. Any ideas why a reboot would make HEM cease to function?
It is getting very annoying.

Those files were already set to run as admin by default.
UCA is turned off.
Exceptions were added to the firewall.
Windows 7 is up to date.
Scandisk done.

I still get this error every time I reboot my computer and try to run HEM. I have reinstalled HEM atleast 10 times already. It is getting really bothersome.

As mentionned before, after I reinstall HEM, it works perfectly fine until the next time I reboot my machine.

i am getting unhandled exception after i went to compatability tab and selected run as administrator. I also, selected never and turned off uac. Did i need to do both of those? I dont know what it is wrong and i dont know if needed to do anything else as I am a noob when it comes to windows.
