When I start up HM, it all of a sudden gives this error:

"An error occured while reading the config/HoldemManager.config file: Mainelement missing. HoldemManager will now backup the old config file and create a new one for you."

Then, when i click ok, i get a Microsoft .NET framework error and can't start up HM.

How to solve this?

Please update to the latest version - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate.exe

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

For W7 and Vista you must set \holdem manager\dbcontrolpanel.exe, holdemmanager.exe and hmhud.exe are started as administrator. Run the windows explorer and navigate to your Holdemmanager installation directory. Right click the executables and select properties... then select "Run as admin" from the compatibility tab.

Run a manual Windows Update and install all updates, especially all .net framework updates.

Running W7 with AVG virusscan, and some unknown firewall.
But never had this sort of problem before.

Also installed every update, but didn't help.

Eventually i copied the config file from a friend, deleted my own one, pasted his in there.
Now it's working again.
Thanks anyway.

This type of problem is usually caused by a windows or computer crash when HM is running.
