View Full Version : Vista w/Fusion on Mac: HM crashing on exit

For about a month now I have been running HM on my MacBook Pro, using Fusion. I run a Windows Vista Business virtual machine.

Though HM usually operates fine, it sometimes crashes; moreover, it always crashes (giving an "unhandled exception" error) when I exit the program. This is not terribly inconvenient -- I simply reboot the Vista virtual machine and it works again -- but for one thing: it seems to lose my registration every time this happens. The next time I open the program I will be told that my hardware configuration has changed and I need to reregister.

Even that wouldn't be so bad, except that the system seems to become convinced that i am operating HM on mutiple machines (which I am not doing; it is installed on only one machine, in a single virtual machine thereon). I have already had to get my registration reset once, and clearluy that's not a viable long-term solution.

My Windows virtual machine is otherwise stable, and I'm not sure what to check. Suggestions would be welcome.

--------------

Relatedly, I have also found that changing the virtual machine configuration (for example, changing the RAM allocation), or running Spybot SD, also gives the "your hardware has changed" message. Is there a way around this problem when using Fusion?

... or not, it would seem...

Just happened again. I can't get it to activate, after a minor configuration change to my virtual machine settings. It appears that, for me at least, HM is not usable with Fusion+Vista.

FWIW, what HM tells me:

So, can somebody at least tell me that I'm not going to get any help? As HM no longer works for me, I will be requesting a refund, but I do like the program and am trying to give it every chance.

Sorry about the delay, ill remind Roy about this now in the meantime can you confirm that UAC is disabled http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73 also this might provide a temporary solution http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=159 while Roy responds about the hardware change issue

Hi, this isn't normal behaviors for Macs using HM so I'm not sure why 1) it is crashing in the first place and 2) why it keeps on thinking hardware changed.

What we can do is reset your code so email me at sales@holdemmanager.net and we'll do this right away. It seems like until the root cause is fixed you will probably be requesting a lot of these resets and at this time it can't be done on your own
