View Full Version : Summary.View - access to file denied

a message appears when I launch my HE Manager:

"Error initializing importer: access to the path (...) Summary.View is denied. Params: (...) HMImport.exe"

I have already given all the relevant files administrator privileges
also patched to the newest version - it didn't solve the problem.

whatever i want to do with the "Summary.View" file (for ex. give it admin privileges), a message pops up that access is denied.

What do I do? I tried looking through the forums, I found a similar thread but the person is being sent to another thread - The solution to the problem is supposed to be in the "1.06.01m" release topic - which I can't find.

Run as admin should solve this.

Which Operating System, Firewall, and Anti-Virus are you using?

Many of those free Norton, Mcaffee, Comodo, Zonealarm, etc, 'internet security' bundles will not work well with holdem manager.

Please do the following steps, so we can get your computer to a state that we know will work with Holdem Manager:

1) Uninstall any 3rd party security software bundles.
2) Reboot your computer
3) Please install the latest version: http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/HmBetaUpdate.exe
4) Enable Windows Firewall's recommended settings through your Control Panel.
5) Install Microsoft Security Essentials for antivirus/malware protection and update it - http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Please give HoldemManager Administrator rights -

1) Go to C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager (Program Files (x86) if you have the 64bit version)
2) Right-click the HoldemManager.exe and choose "Properties".
3) Go to the Compatibility Tab and select "Run this program as an Administrator".
4) Do the same for HMHud.exe and DBControlPanel.exe

Restart your PC.

If that doesn't solve it, Disable UAC - Disable User Account Control (UAC) the Easy Way on Win 7 or Vista - How-To Geek (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-user-account-control-uac-the-easy-way-on-windows-vista/)

Restart again.

I use Windows Vista, I don't use any firewall other than the Windows Firewall, I use Sophos Antivirus, Immunet 3.0 Plus and AdAware.

Do I uninstall Immunet? I'm afraid I can't do this, unless you recommend any other software that's similar but works fine with HEM. The reason is I had my FTP account hacked into two days ago and it's Immunet which found the threat and helped get my computer secure.

I will go ahead with the rest of the recommendations and see what happens.

Thanks

EDIT: Sorry I just realized you gave Microsoft Security Essentials as a substitute - will it be effective?

Why do you have 2 AVP's installed? I am sure one, or both, of those is the problem. AdAware is usually fine to use as long as it is not running all the time in the system tray.

You will need to remove 1 or both of those anti-viruses to see if you can get HM to work with either one.

I would personally suggest you just uninstall them both and use something that is more compatible with HM, and more well regarded. I have never heard of either of those programs and wouldn't trust my security to them.

Make sure you disable windows defender completely and exceptions to whichever firewall is running.

Yes, it is what I use on both of my computers that are online 24/7. I ran manual scans also for the first 6 months after MsES was released and I have no worries about how well it works.

AVG Free Antivirus and Avira Free Antivirus are other good options, but do not use their 'internet security bundles'. If you want to pay for security I would suggest ESET NOD or Kaspersky.
