Dear Sir, Madam,

I know this problem is already in one of the FAQs, but I wasn't able to fix it via that. I kindly ask some administrator to have a TeamViewer-session to fix my problem.

Thanks a lot.

Regards,
Diamond10

You need to follow this FAQ exactly http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34 which will also lead to FAQ 171

If you skip a step or dont follow it exactly then it just wont work, if i do a teamviewer session i will just be following the exact instructions in that thread so theres nothing i can do in a teamviewer session that isnt in that thread.

If you tried it and its still not working go to control panel > admin tools > event viewer > Windows Log > Applications and look for any postgreSQL errors for the time you tried to start HM and then paste those details here

Did you try deleting the postmaster file? If so then try to start holdem manager and go back to the event viewer and post the new error.

Also can you try reinstalling PostgreSQL http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177

Where should I find the postmaster file?
And I already tried to reinstall PostgreSQL but I did Untick ''Install as a service'' so I didn't put a new password, was that correct?
Plus I did tick launch stackbuilder at the end...

I found ''postmaster.pid'' and ''postmaster.opts'' which one should I delete?
I am scared to delete anything cause I don't wanna lose all my data that I did build last months.

I did delete the postmaster.pid-file, but nothing happened..
No new error was shown in the Event Viewer, so I gonna reboot now.

Maybe after rebooting it will show a new error or finally work, I dunno.

Hi Morny,

I really have the feeling that I am messing it up more and more:(
I don't even know how to reinstall PostgreSQL safely without losing all my collected data from the past.

Please help me and try to fix it via TeamViewer if you have time, because I really don't know where to start or how to fix it otherwise.

Have you followed this FAQ http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34 which would include completely uninstalling firewalls and antiviruses

same problem
event viewer says:

GMT FATAL: bogus data in lock file "postmaster.pid": ""

for every attempt to start postgresql service
anybody who solved this?
re-installing postgresql doesn't help, didn't delete program files/postgresql after uninstall though...

Hello,
I have the same problem. I already used the 15 day trial of hm a few weeks ago and hm runed fine. Now I bought hm and I get the same error: Failed to establish a connection to ‘127.0.0.1’. Maybie I made a Windows Vista update (I can´t realy remember).

I already did anything, which is written in the following FAQ´s:

http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=34

http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=73

http://208.109.95.123/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=171
(from this one I didn´t made the last step: 6) Uninstall PostgreSQL, because I am using PostgreSQL also for PT3 and I am afraid, that it also doesn´t work anymore, if I reinstall PostgreSQL).

Can someone please help me.

Please attach the hosts file from C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and then try to start the PostgreSQL service as shown in this FAQ http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afm....aspx?faqid=34 then after a while it will fail and give an error please copy and paste this error and then go to Control panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer > Windows Log > Application error and look near the top for an red error sign, click on this and view the details of the error and post it here aswell

I found the hosts file, but what you mean with "Attach"?

PS: The link to the faq doesn´t work.

Link above is correct, while your replying scroll down and youll see the manage attachments button, use that to attach the file

The Manage attachments window tells me
"hosts:
Invalid File"
everytime I try to upload the file. The file is 1 KB big, what could be the problem?

I have done this (stopped the PostgreSQL Database Server and started it again), but there was no error under Control panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer > Windows Log > Application error.

Btw: PostgreSQL worked and works always fine with PT3.
