This is usually a firewall or windows update issue.

First try to reboot.

If no help, try this:

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Stop Service

Start > Programs > PostgreSQL > 8.x > Start Service

If that doesnt help delete the \postgresql\8.x\data\postmaster.pid file, if you see it. And reboot.

If that doesn't help you will have to reinstall PostgreSQL completely

Hey,
Reinstalled it, nothing worked.
Unable to stop service/start.
deleted .pid file
rebooted
firewall disabled, excluded postgres

Sure it's a windows updade issue, cos it worked perfectly for more than a year, but now nothing...
Pls help

Which SQL version are you running?

You get no errors at the end of the SQL installation?
Try installing a different version of SQL to a different port. Try 9.0.x to port 5433. (if 9.0/8.4 won't work... just install 8.2.x which will always run)

ok managed to get it working but all my databases have disappeared and I had to create a new one, any ideas on how to recover?

My HUD preferences and layouts, custom reports are all still there so I presume just the bases have been lost?

You can import all your hands from the archive (default c:\hmarchive).

To restore your old databases you need to uninstall Postgresql again and install the same Postgresql version as you used before following this FAQ: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/71/Reinstall+PostgreSQL+Preserving+Old+Database
