Hi I just put HEM onto my laptop and now when my hands are importing (stats showing up in HUD so must be importing) but nothing showing up in graphs or reports. I made sure to select my name but still shows nothing... Also now when I move my HUD around on the tables it can't seem to go over the top off the table boarder on cash game tables... (stats just disappear when I drag them over boarder of top of table where it lists the information on the table limit and type of game) thank you

Clear filters (even though it appears no filters are selected)

Set the date formatting of your computer to M/d/yyyy (and not to European default d/M/yyyy) And reboot

Please update to the latest version - http://www.holdemmanager.com/Downloads/HmUpdate.exe

Stats disappearing when you drag them over boarder of top of table: hud options--> table preferences--> change the overhang (pixels) from 0----> to a very large number like 2000.

Is this on Full Tilt?

It may be a corrupt database.

*Try creating a new UTF DB - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/75/Create+%7B47%7D+Delete+Database
*Now import a small portion of your \HMArchive so you can see if the problem exists in the new DB - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/98/How+to+Import+%26+Export+Hands
*If the new DB seems to work properly, you will want to import the rest of your archives to the new DB, export/import the hands from the old DB to the new DB, and export/import any player notes and tourney summaries - and then delete the old DB.
*Make sure you export/backup everything before deleting the old DB - http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/372/Reinstalling+on+a+new+PC+-+Backup+Tips

ugh ok, instead would it be possible to just completely wipe my new laptop and use the back up and restore function HEM has from my desktop? would I still get my hands and data base or just my HEM Settings? thanks

If there is a corruption in a index of the database, backup/restore will only restore the corrupted database.

Try creating a new empty database, and reimport the original handhistories from your archive folder from C:/HMArchive

I'm having a similar problem - the importer seems to be working, but only some of the hands show up.

I have my computer set to use European style date formats - dd/MM/yyyy. I can't change this - your software should be able to handle this. Speaking of which: the date conversions on the date stamps in the hand histories should also work automatically, in my opinion. At the very least, it should default to converting to the time zone that the user is in.

HEM, please fix this bug. In the mean time, a better workaround than "change you date settings" would be appreciated.

On a different note: I have managed to transfer my data to a separate machine with Postgres running (Ubuntu) and it seems to work well so far. There's a great thread in the forums on how to do that and I'll add my experiences.

I'm running version 1.11.06d and Postgres 8.4.

OK, I changed the date formatting on my PC and the problem seems to have gone away for the most part, but not entirely.

I'd like to take a look in the DB - which tables should I be querying?

Another question - should I be changing timeout settings for Postgres? If so, does anyone know where? Under /etc/postgresql somewhere?

My data base is millions of hands trying not to have to reimport them all... I know there is no problem at all on my desktop so If I wiped my laptop (deleted data bases and uninstalled HEM) then used the backup and restore option from my desktop would this work? Also I believe you are right about a corrupted data base on my laptop because I tried to run housekeeping multiple times and it simply failed everytime said it experienced an error and stopped... also on a 7 million hand data base how long would the backup and restore function take? thank you

Query tables for what? The hands are in the pokerhands table.

The default should be fine or do you have timeout problems?

for restoring the database on your laptop there is no need to uninstall everything. Just create a backup of your database on the main pc via pgadmin and restore it into a new database on your laptop. http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/72/Backup+%26+Restore+Database

Hard to say how long it will need because it depends on many things. But it will need some hours.

@Varange

European style format: HoldemManager can import both formats (USA and European..... only often causing real problems with Russian/Turkish date formatting). The problem is some pokersites use their 'lobby' clock (with the date formatting shown in the lobby), but they can also use the internal clock (with the time and date formatting from your computer).

If they don't write the difference to the handhistory file, HoldemManager can't detect what's meant with 5/6/2011 vs 6/5/2011. Therefore HoldemManager assumes:
-The pokersite is using the lobby clock (and that clock is set to an American formatting.
-Your computer's date formatting is set to the American default.

On which site are you playing? If PokerStars: you should be able to keep your computer's date settings at European/Australian default, as long as you change the time/date in the PokerStars lobby and change that to the American format.

Do you experience timeout errors when running queries?
Try editing the postgresql.conf file. Read:

Allstar: It isn't necessary to wipe the database on your laptop in order to transfer it to your desktop; you can just dump the data from the laptop and restore it on your PC.

Another thing: my DB wasn't corrupted - that's not what I said.

You don't provide enough information about what you're trying to do really.

The backup and restore operations can take a long time (hours) depending on the capabilities of your computer.

Patvs, thanx for that re. the date/time handling.

The problem still remains though - it's not importing all the hands. Typically, out of ten hands, about three go missing.

SO my first thought was that it might indeed have imported the missing hands into the DB and simply wasn't displaying them - this is why I wanted to know which table it stores them in.

Somehow I doubt the Importer is not working properly, so if the missing hands don't arrive in the DB, the problem could lie with the transfer of the data. Hence my question about timeout settings, which I still have no answer to.

I'll start testing again today and post the results. In the mean time, I'd appreciate the timeout settings.

Cheers

I made a video describing the problem with the import. It shows how hand histories don't appear in the database even though the importer knows about them.

I'm hoping someone on the tech staff can help with this.

If I use the local DB it all works fine - the problem only exists with the remote DB.

Here's the link to the vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WSFMXHLqw8

I use the same postgresql configuration on a Ubuntu server and i don't have such problems.

Which postgresql version are you using?

Varange
04-30-2011, 06:51 AM
version 8.4

Hmm, maybe some networking problem. SSL?

It's strange, because even if the network is slow, the postgres server won't timeout that quickly.

Hmm, thats beyond our normal support. You probably find more help in a postgresql forum?

Like the title says hands are importing (new files found by importer), but no new results. The handhistory files also seem to be transferred to the archive folder so that part seems to be going alright.

Any idea?

running hm1 1.13.01 internal

Oh and earlier today everything was showing just fine, it is my 3rd session that doesn't show properly.

Clear filters (even though it appears no filters are selected)

Check your time adjustment settings: http://faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/434/Adjust+Site+Import+Times

Try reimporting all your hands into a new empty database.

I have updated HM and adjusted the time by +6 because time in pokerstars was 4:00 ET and on my laptop it was 10:00.

Holdemmanager doesn't seem to be putting the HH's in archive anymore.

Also i just recently made a new database, i think it was in the new database format. It took me ages to do is, are you sure this is necessary?

edit: hh's are in archive now still no results

Please download the same version of postgresql that you have now from Download PostgreSQL | EnterpriseDB (http://www.enterprisedb.com/products-services-training/pgdownload#windows). Uninstall yours, and install this update.

1) Create a new windows user in the Control Panel > User Accounts. Make sure it is an Administrator account and has no unique characters in the name (only characters from EN Alphabet)

2) Enable the option to see Hidden Files and Disable See this tutorial for showing system and hidden files:

http://hm2faq.holdemmanager.com/questions/832/How+are+Hidden+Files+Viewed+in+Windows%3F+
- It should look like this: http://rvgsoftware.fileburst.com/images/hidden.jpg

3) Delete C:\ProgramData\XHEO INC\SharedLicenses\ Holdem Manager.lic (XP Users can find the file at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\AppData\XHEO INC\SharedLicenses\ Holdem Manager.lic)

4) Reboot the PC and Log in to the new windows user account, and try to register again.

5) If that works, reboot, log in to the normal user, and test to make sure everything works before deleting the temporary user.

If you continue to have registration issues, please send your Reg.log file from the C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Logs folder. If your Windows is hiding known file extensions the file will simply be called 'reg'.

Please see this to transfer files to a different windows user:

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling postgres but everything seems messed up.
Uninstalling the old version didn't complete and some message came up.

This directory is still left program files x86> postgresql>8.3> data
9.6 gigs left in base. I am afraid I am going to lose everything, please help.
Whenever i try to install the new version now it says "neither the selected directory is empty, or a recognisable data directy"

When i try to reinstall postgresql via this link download (http://www.enterprisedb.com/postgresql-8323-installers-win32?ls=Crossover&type=Crossover)

And i install it in the same directory, so i overwrite program files x86> postgresql>8.3> data i'm getting an error.
"The existing data directory ( Date/time setting: floating-point numbers) is not compatible with this server ( Date/Time setting: 64-bit integers)

See: trouble installing PostgreSQL 8.3 - Data Directory (http://forums.enterprisedb.com/posts/list/1770.page)

You'll have to install an older version of PostgreSQL 8.3.

I managed to find the right 8.3.0 version by google, I reinstalled that version and I uninstalled it after that. No errors occured, so what is my next step.

i thought my next step was to update to version 9.2.4 but when I install to the default path "program files x86> postgresql>8.3> data" this error appears "An existing date directory has been selected but is neither empty, or a recognisable data directory"

Should i be installing somewhere else, or what am I doing wrong.

edit: ok when installing 9.2.4 i manually changed the install path to 8.3 instead of 9.2. Now the installation is finished and it says "A non-fatal error occured whilst loading database modules. Please check the instalation log in \Temp for details"

"Problem running post-install step. Installation may not complete correctly Error reading file 8.3/data/postgresql.conf"

Ok that did NOT work at all, at the end it uninstalls again.

You cannot update your PostgreSQL 8.3.x to 9.2.x. They are not compatible with each other.

-1 Reinstall 8.3.0. So you can connect to your old database.
SAVE/BACKUP/EXPORT everything you need from that database:
export your HUD, your notes, your bonus/rakeback settings,... and if you don't have a proper backup of all your handhistories, export all your hands. ( Options--> Database Management--> Connect--> select your database--> (set it as default)--> EXPORT HANDS)

-2 Then install a different version of PostgreSQL to a different port (for example 9.2.4 to port 5433). Create a new database ( Options--> Database Management--> Connect (using the new port)--> Create New Database--> (set it as default)--> Start HoldemManager

-3 Import all your hands hands / settings.
