I just switched from XP 32-bit to Vista 64-bit. I've never had this problem before. My video card drivers are up to date and I'm running DirectX 10.

K, this is the second day in a row I haven't been able to play due to ridiculous HEM and PostgreSQL snags. If I could actually get some help that would be great.

Try updating your graphics card driver and if the problem persists then try this:

Can you follow these instructions:

1) Make a backup of your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder
2) Uninstall HM via the Control Panel
3) Go to Program Files and delete the RVG Software directory, or the equivalent for Vista
4) Reboot your computer
5) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip
7) Download the latest patch HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/Hm1.08Beta.exe
8) Test if it for a while and see if it work
9) Close down Holdem Manager and copy the "holdemmanager.config" file which can be found in the backed up config folder from step 1 and copy and overwrite it to your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder
10) Test if it works again for a while

Ok, I tried that and it worked fine with the default config. When the default HUD loaded up the first difference I noticed was that the panels had a background, whereas before I had it set to transparent. Sure enough, when I went and switched it to transparent, it went back to looking crappy again. Any idea on how to fix this? I'd really rather not display backgrounds.

EDIT: I changed the text color to a darker one, and that makes the problem almost unnoticeable (dark colored text isn't the greatest, though). Basically the problem happens with any light-colored text.

Which version do you have? It looks as if the problem is acaused by an experiment I was trying with the latest beta. I was trying to put a drop shadow under the transparent text. It looks a lot better on my machine, but still isn't perfect. Not sure why it looks so bad on yours.

Please use a background for now and I'll try something else in the next build. beta 8?

The problem occurs in both the official release and the 1.08 beta 7 for me.
