Hi
Just installed HM and postgres just like in the tutorial,
but when i launch HM, after clicking the try button, and clicking OK on the box,
HM suddenly quits with this error :

"DBcontrolpanel has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"

the error report contains :
Appname : dbcontrolpanel.exe AppVer 1.0.0.0 Appstamp : 482b58fa
Modname : kernel32.dll Modver : 5.1.2006.2180 ModStamp : 41109627
fdebug : 0 Offset : 0001eb33

I'm on windows XP.

Please follow the instructions for uninstalling and reinstalling .net framework here: http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=14

I have this same problem, followed what that said, restarted my comp and everything, and then still got the same error.

Are you using 64bit, if so follow this FAQ http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=132 andif it still persist then uninstall and reinstall PostgreSQL aswell http://www.holdemmanager.net/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=177

Can you follow these instructions:

1) Make a backup of your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder
2) Uninstall HM via the Control Panel
3) Go to Program Files and delete the RVG Software directory, or the equivalent for Vista
4) Reboot your computer
5) Install the complete setup of HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/holdemmanager.zip
7) Download the latest patch HM: http://www.holdemmanager.com/downloads/HmUpdate1.08beta.exe
8) Test if it for a while and see if it work
9) Close down Holdem Manager and copy the "holdemmanager.config" file which can be found in the backed up config folder from step 1 and copy and overwrite it to your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder
10) Test if it works again for a while
11) Close HM and Delete all the contents of your C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\Config folder then copy all the contents from your backed up config file from step 1 into this location
12) Test if it works again
